Ok is this problem the DRC issue?

Post by byron13 » Wed Mar 26, 2008 3:57 pm

Ok my Rs4 has been a bit crap and noisy on uneven surfaces for some time now and must admit I just put it down to hard sports suspension but having noticed it getting worse (esp when cold) and now the front of the car has started to tramline very badly now and feels very vague on steering even pulling sometimes to the left or right!!
I guess also the situation also exaggerates interior knocks and makes it quite noisy.

Tyre pressures are spot on and no damage to tracking or wheels.

Just been reading up on this on here and deff over speed bumps it sounds awful the “clumpâ€

If anything most of the "crashing" is coming from the rear ! Is that norm or is the fault the front ?

If the system has leaked from e.g. a front (which see prone to it), you will have lost pressure most likely from one front and one diagonal rear, as that is how they are connected. Hence an apparently undamaged rear may 'crash' as the oil pressure has been degraded. ALso, the 'central valve' associated with each diagonal pair is under the middle-ish of the rear set back, so if the pressure has been lost, you may hear a 'chuffing' from that area.
