Consider how many RS4's were made and you'll see that there's no way Audi spent that sort of money developing this car. They will have spent plenty on the A4, but relatively little on the RS4 itself.

So, tell me....why would they settle for anything other than optimum?
Is it really optimum? Or just a very good compromise? Afterall its still a four/five door family car.

What in effect you're suggesting is that Gruppe know more about the performance of the RS4 intake than Audi themselves. I just find this hard to stomach.
I think the suggestion is that GruppeM, along with all tuners, are just looking to remove some of that compromise.

Kudos to tuners like Manthay who admit that (for example) getting any more performance from the 997 GT3RS is not possible by playing with the powerplant and associated intakes/exhausts. Porsche have done that and extracted absolutely everything possible from it already.
And that's a car that is built without any compromise at all. Its made for only one thing, going round tracks fast.

That said DTM 4.0 litre cars get 460hp so there is some room for improvement over the 414hp we get, but I'd imagine much of that is rpm related...
The RS4 gets just under 100bhp/litre. There should be enough in there for a little more. The new M3 gets 103.5bhp/litre.

i was divorced a few years ago, and now have a new girlfriend. her performance Characteristics are generally similar to my old wife (although evolution should have produced an optimum woman by now) but she does look better and although she shags pretty much the same the induction noise is far better. so on balance i think i will stick with the new one.

Jesus, 800 quid for a 12 quid cone filter and a bit of plastic shrowding? Something which you could knock up at home?

And all for what? Gains of a couple of bhp?

B7 owners are even more gullible than I thought... ;)

MAF issues indeed :D

The only MAF I'm aware off that performed a burn out cycle to burn off the crap on the maf after the igntion has turned off was on the old VR6's.
On the MK4 Golf, I think they went back to MAF's which didnt do this hence why most modern Dubs running cones cause hesitation due to oil contamination.

My advice? Stick with the standard airbox and invest in a blower ;)

See here;- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_flow_sensor

Its a well known fact that oiled air filters allow oil to cover the MAF and cause it to either give false Air Flow readings of just fail completely, although manufacturers will deny this fact, it can't be denied that there has been a huge increase in MAF failures on cars after an oiled filter has been installed.

You should buy a lottery ticket in that case. :)

and what is it with some people on here, it's meant to be a fun place to come and talk about stuff. There's a reason I've not been on here in ages. Lighten up you lot. The boy only wanted to share what he had found.

For my $0.02's worth. I think the GruppeM intake looks really cool and I'd bet it make the car sound good. I'll be very keen to hear if anyone gets one. Probably won't buy one but I'd like to know about it.

Regs cost, 1800 quid for a valved milltek is hellish, with not such a massive gain in power either. Likewise, I like to read about it, but have a wedding to pay for so I'm not going to buy one right now!

600 quid for (an admittedly claimed) 7bhp from the intake vs 1800 for 20bhp from an exhaust, doesn't stand up to much scrutiny for the cost vs benefit analysis either does it?

Doesn't mean that I don't want to hear about either or any other item for that matter.

Surely the point of the forum is to make points and ask questions and not to be too scared to raise a point without out people tearing you up for ass paper.

Some people just go off on one if someone disagrees with them. T_urbo.

For all you guys who are prepared to get you wallet out and buy one, hat's off to you. I'll be very interested to hear what it's like.

For all you other lot, bah humbug!!
