They said it was not suppose to do that! who was i to complain at getting a new RNS-E.

I was led to believe that it was fixed volume but if you went into engineering mode (in nav mode, top left button 5 secs, top right button 5 secs) and set the volume there it would keep it - but no joy on that either.

Just had my 1st AVS service @ 12K. There was 2K left on the display, but having lost the nearside undertray last week, I thought I'd kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Cost £298 all in.

------------------------------

My car suffured with a Radio volume issue. My car had a new RSNE, swapped amps with the demonstrator etc. Eventually traced to the MP3 adaptor. Long story, but at the time of order the dealer said that if I orderd the 6 CD they could add the IPOD connector during PDI, and I could have both. Well it is either or, so they fittedt the IPOD adaptor and the Audi approved connector they fitted back amplified the radio, so evertime you got in the car the radio came on very loud!! They removed the IPOD connector and plugged in teh CD Changer, and everything worked properly. Just a shame / very annoying that it took 3 months to sort out

West London Audi has quoted me £420 for the 1st service! I dont find this resonable, but for the inconvenience of taking it elsewhere, I am going ahead with it. It seems London charges you a premium.

Well... I have been quoted on my AVS at two separate local places...

Camberley - £366.89 (£145.51) for own oil £82.26 for brake fluid change
Guildford - £339.38 (£180) for own oil (!?) £80.23 for brake fluid change

Now, I am looking at going to Camberley purely based on the fact that they 'know' about DRC issues, Guildford, when asked, said they have never heard of any issues - Camberley worth the extra? I hope so...

Anyone else actually paid for an RS4 AVS at Camberley? What did you pay? And can you recommend?

SW London doesn't - mine was half that per my earliler thread

utterly bizarre spread of charges IMO

I've just had my first service at 7.5k and it came to £408 down here in Jersey. I tried to ask them about upgrading the software version too but they keep telling me that my car has the latest version - is there anyway to find out without VAGcom. Is there a way to find what software was on the car originally from the engine no or chassis no??? Sorry for asking, but my car is still have the hesitation problems when first started and the last 2 version of the s/w claim to have fixed if 080 & 090...........

cheers

No, you need to connect to the engine ECU with VAG-COM (or VCDS as it's now called) and the SW version number will be displayed along with the serial number of the ECU.
