missfiring when cold

Post by paulm846 » Tue Mar 04, 2008 8:15 pm

hi all

had to take my 6000 mile rs4 back to dealer as it was missing when cold. i suggested a plug had broken down but they wanted to test it so kept it in overnight. eventually after 2 days and arguing that re map (no more limits !)
wasnt to blame they changed the plugs under warrantee and now its cool. question is has anyone else had this ? the garage said the plugs looked very black and dirty ?

happy driving all

I put mine in for a test and they diagnosed a faulty combination valve. The gate was not opening fully when cold. They replaced it under warranty and it runs much better now. I have experienced a small misfiring again so might ask them if they checked the plugs during diagnosis.

I've been having pretty bad missfiring when cold too. The plugs have been changed twice but it has not helped at all. Im going to take it to the dealer for the third time now. Maybe they'll get it fixed this time:-)

Known by-product of direct injected engines but not likely anything to do with your problem.
