Those of you with SS+....
Those of you with SS+....
what is the clearance between top of tyre and external edge of wheel arch?
Just getting used to the lower look of SS+ but my car is not even. Rear has zero gap and front has maybe an inch - are yours the same?

RE: Those of you with SS+....
Sounds about right - from memory there's no clearance at the back, but a bit visible at the front
Inch sounds quite a lot though. I'll check tonight...

thanks, thought the difference was quite pronounced, want to make sure this is std. My SS+ has just been fitted so not sure whether it "settles"
RE: Those of you with SS+....
Rear is lower than the front with regards to clearance between tyre and arch.
RE: Those of you with SS+....
Yes - double checked. Zero clearance at rear, about an inch at the front...

not that there was anything wrong with the handling, am still getting used to the switch to SS+ and revelling in the lack of roll in the bends
RE: Re: RE: Those of you with SS+....
Yes, I wish my front looked like my back

RE: Re: RE: Those of you with SS+....
Tis the same with standard suspension as well, or at least it is on mine & others i've seen.

Hi Adam. Take it your ss+ was a retro fit then. Can you tell me how much this set you back as im thinking of lowering my RS too. I would go for the H&Rs but i would like to keep my audi waranty intact. (dont mean to be nosey)Adam wrote:thanks, thought the difference was quite pronounced, want to make sure this is std. I've not driven one with the standard suspension, however mine (with SS+) is surprisingly good over poor surfaces. Where my old B5 would crash and bang over ridges and potholes, the B7 is firm obviously, but the ride is never harsh or crashy IMO.scoobyc wrote:to anybody with ss+..
have you noticed any negative effects eg is it much harsher around town, b roads or is it, as seems, a win/win situation? thanks.

Audi cannot change the laws of physics - you cannot get a stiffer suspensions with dramatically reduced body roll without increasing harshness of ridescoobyc wrote:to anybody with ss+..

I am in the unusual position of having owned the std sports suspension car for 10 months and now owning a SS+ car. The ride is undeniably harsher, it does not soak up bumps as well, and is "jiggly" on B roads.
By which I mean you feel the road much more accurately through the wheel/bum and the car feels more alive - very akin to a modern Porsche in terms of feel v comfort balance whereas the std is a more relaxed less sporty balance.
On balance a big improvement for my use, and I can now notice the difference visually and see which RS4s are std and which are not quite easily.

Fortunately another rs246 member wanted to swap so it was less than £500 inc VAT to do the swap from a good indie.RS4BHOY wrote: Hi Adam. Take it your ss+ was a retro fit then. Can you tell me how much this set you back as im thinking of lowering my RS too.
Retro would be over £2k I believe as you effectively replace the parts and bin the old bits
