If this is a recall does anyone have official details as my dealer does not seem to have heard of it and so far does not accept that there is a problem. I have had the car 7 months and it didn't do it for 5 so something has changed.

I started to suffer a similiar problem recently. I might be wrong but i think it has disappeared since i had new tyres put on yesterday. Is it possible that the worn tyres (under 1mm of tread) were the cause?

it was a familiar complaint with the RS4/A4 chassis.

Call today to say there are modified parts to fit to my car which will sort the problem.
So :jump_clap: SR71 - did Cardiff say this was an offical recall or are they just aware of the problem and know the fix and are more proactive than other dealers? My car goes in for first service in 2 months and if there is an official recall or at least a well-known modified part that solves this it would be great to know what it is eg part no.

The ironic thing with this is Cardiff Audi told me a day before SR-71 that there was nothing that could be done

as the warranty states there is no recall but the bottom arm bushes are reaplaced , had mine done yestreday but the passenger side wheel still feels light and doesn't grip properly when turning mainly at full lock. Didn't do it before so am sure its a problem that can be solved.

i had a similar problem and at the service i mentioned it to the tech. he said its common as the rubber begins to wear and i had 4mm left on the front and 3mm on the rear. anyhoo on the way home i ran over a wagon strap and got the hook end embedded in my tyre managed to get the 1 mile home and called quickfit mobile who fitted 4 new mich SC's and guess what the rough noise on full lock has gone. so seems the tech was correct. i was really beginning to feel concerned as driving up the multi story the diff sounded like a bag of spanners but sorted and happy now.

This is what I posted in another thread:

Judder on full lock is normally a "feature" of high performance cars. As you apply lock the wheel cambers over and the tyre ends up running right on its shoulder (appply full lock, then get out of the car and look at how far the wheel leans over). As the tyre moves around the circle it pushes sideways against the shoulder tread-blocks of the tyre. These tread blocks flex as far as they can, and then spring back into shape, causing that shudder. Almost all Porsches do this, and the RS4 does it exactly the same. Obviously the type of tyre and road ruface make a difference to how noticable this "feature" is.

Basically, it's normal......

Though there could be 2 different issues here. Once you have experienced what I described above, it becomes obvious when you get into another car and it does exactly the same.

Maybe there is a knocking issue as well?

So my 56 plate RS4 B7 is also doing this but it seems to be a common problem, not only on RS4's but my previous MK2 TT 3.2 did the same, with brand new tires. Got it checked out with Aylesbury Audi who checked all the lower arm bushes at my request. Came back and said can't find anything wrong, seems to be a common problem that they can't do anything about. Oh well, guess i'll just have to wear these tires out quicker and get some new boots :P

Whilst in for the check, they uploaded the new ECU software and, as other have said, makes the car feel slower but probably due to making it a lot smoother.

£97.00 also to change the NSF fog light that had a cracked lens.

As a new member, i'm off now to disconnect the exhaust flap valves to see if it does make a difference.

I have just had another oil and filter change and got the techs to check this. They had a careful look over all the suspension components and there was nothing untoward. They then compared it to another RS4 that was in and it too did the same. The conclusion their chief tech came up with was that given that it is 4 wheel drive, the rear wheels are pushing the whole car forward when the fronts are on full lock, therefore scrubbing the tyres somewhat. On less powerful 4 wheel drive cars this is less obvious. This seems to make sense to me, and I'm sure this would get worse as front grip worsens when the tyres are no longer fresh. Also I think this must be different to the suspension bush problem mentioned earlier in the thread.
