Milltek Resonated V Non-Resonated

Post by RS4-RAG » Wed Jan 16, 2008 6:47 pm

Can't seem to decide between the two - don't fancy the valved version because of the price! Is the non-resonated too LOUD! and the resonated not that different from stock. Anyone in the Yorkshire area with the 2 different versions.

Non resonated IS too loud IMHO. I tried it in my RS4 and although wonderful noise, was just too much for everyday use. (Way louder than my F360 Modena). I thus changed to a resonated and still think it sounds beautiful.

Wouldn't a valved system solve that problem though? wonderful noise when you press the sport button, then when you want civilised driving leave it in normal mode?

The valved system is just silly money for what it does, decided to go for the non-res non-valve option and its hopefully getting fitted tomorrow, if it's too loud then i'd make the switch to resonated.

lol subjective for sure judging by the posts, for me non-res valved solves my problems. loud when i want and quieter for those stealth moments. of course valved adds quite a bit to the price, but then if we were all skinflints we would be driving diesel polo's and not RS4's

Resonated valved system fitted Tuesday. Right balance of throaty burble.

The way to go IMO unless you are of the saddo, shouty, blue anorak subaru disposition.

just out of interest have most gone for full millteks on here or cat back systems, do the cat back systems still give a good improvement sound wise? thinking of a resonated cat back, anyone in yorkshire know the best place for purchase and fitting?

I must say its an awesome sound, just fitted today, but I didn't think the non-res non-valve would be that loud!, I'd say at the moment its too loud, unless it settles in the next few weeks! might be going for the resonated version after all.

Exhausts normally quiet down in the first few weeks as carbon builds up in the system...

I have downpipes + resonated non-valved system - for me the volume is perfect, it is quite a bit louder than stock but not excessive. I think non-resonated would detract from the image this type of car sets.

One thing I've noticed is quite a bit of drone between 1500-2000RPM (also loss of torque in this area) but I suspect this is from the downpipes.

Valves - waste of time really, even fully open they aren't as free flowing as not being there...
