Bugger & Balls!!

Post by W8PMC » Wed Dec 19, 2007 6:07 pm

After 7 months owning an un-blemished RS4, which most of the time was in almost showroom condition, i have to say i've become lax in my cleaning & am now purely enjoying driving the car instead of looking after it. She had her 1st wash in 5 weeks on Tuesday

Anyhow, back to the title & un-blemished part. As said, the car had only the slightest blemishes by way of stone chips, but how that's changed in the last 2 weeks. First of my 1st curbing on the front offside wheel, not bad but bad enough, next a nice big rock hits the windscreen & puts a 5pence sized chip crack right in the middle of the screen, next yet another rock, but this time it hits the front nearside foglamp, so thats totally cracked & finally in a bad mood today leaving my hotel in London, i hit the rear offside wheel on the same feckin curb i did the front one on 2 weeks ago. The damage to the rear wheel is very very bad & i nearly cried (anyone know any exceptional B7 RS4 wheel refurb places/people in Hants/Surrey?)

TBH though, this has not traumatised me as much as i expected so it's safe to say i'm not as wrapped up in my car as i thought i was  .

Vent over.

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes mate.

I can personally vouch for Lepsons...they are superb and will do a complete OEM repair and repaint of your wheel using the same paint code as audi. Another good place is pristine alloy wheels. Not used them personally but heard nothing but good words for them.

Good luck.

Don't worry, I have now curbed my wheels 3 times. Both rears and front right.

Have used Lepsons in Gillingham 3 times (due to a local Audi main stealer curbing them on 3 seperate occasions) and they have been excellent.

Bugger! Know what you mean... Windscreen repairs are very good now, well worth the trouble of getting it done asap before too much grime gets ingrained.

I scratched my alloy for the first time the other day, of what was a perfectly pristine set. albeit very minor mark, anyone know of a touch-up pen that practically matches? I simply want to stop salts getting to the alloy and under the paint, and it doesnt warrant a refurb job as its practically insignificant

I can sympathise W8PMC. I'd been careful enough to grarage the RS every night since I got it for 7 weeks until one night I couldn't get access to the garage so I parked it on the street. Sure enough next morning someone has keyed the nearside wing right through the paint and my local paintshop is reluctant to touch it for fear of mismatching the colour against the door panel and bumper. Then two days afterward someone shunted me at a set of traffic lights ecause the driver's foot 'slipped' off the brake pedal as they were driving an auto rresulting in two days in the bodyshop having the rear bumper resprayed.

Then 4 days later I mashed both nearside alloys on a kerb at Tesco avoiding a rogue trolley that some bint had just pushed out of the way of her car whilst she was trying to put her daughter in the car.

So that's my bad luck three, truly gutted as my RS now wears a scar and as much as people tell me they can't see it, I know its there.

I'll make you feel better - I kerbed my alloy on the 3rd day of owning it. Bar steward. No other alloys done to date but do have a nice local taxi company which takes me to the kerb when I park !

Alloys, don't talk to me about alloys!!
Kerbed one several months ago, thought about repairing just one but was worried re colour mis-match so had all 4 done (fancied slight change in colour also to darker)
Few weeks later decided I didn't like the colour, or to be honest the quality of the work, so I ordered 4 brand new OEM 19" wheels and had them fitted by local Audi dealer
Great I thought, only for the same dealer to completely roger the rims of all 4 when fitting new tyres
They 'repaired' the rims but the paint is peeling in one or two areas
I now have 8 OEM wheels all 'buggered' either by me, an independent or the Audi garage
Bugger and Balls indeed!!

Try this lot for alloy wheel refurbishment: http://automotive.cyb.co.uk/home/ (sorry - no hyperlink).

Paul,

I know how you feel - I got a stone chip in the passenger side of the windscreen about the size of a 50p. I took it to Autofarce, who tried to repair it twice then had to remove it all and do again, only to discover another chip at the top of the screen on the drivers side.

Meanwhile, today (after having my wheels refurbed recently at Lepsons) I wasnt paying attention due to a very fast and noisy ambulance and really badly kerbed the nearside rear wheel. Its that bad, I may start a new post for the worst scuffed alloy!!!!!

I did have some minor scratches down the nearside, caused by a stray bush and an oncoming car in a narrow lane, but got these detailed out by GTechniq.
Everyone is unique, just like you and me.

It happens to us all. I kerbed my front left hand wheel last week badly because of a taxi driver - long story. It made such a loud noise that a girl passing by on the pavement yelled! Off to Lepson's for me too I think - just trying to decide if I should paint them darker.

Oh, and I've now also got a dent in my rear door from some <beep>... any ideas on who can repair this guy's?
