RS4 Owners- Any regrets?
RS4 Owners- Any regrets?
Not that I have any, I love this car and am not sure I can surpass it with anything else for the money witha combination of practicality, versatility, performance and 'grin' factor.
However I was reading elsewhere about some peoples thoughts and that either reliability issues or third party vandalism perhaps attributed to it being such a top end car and jealousy had ruined the RS ownership experience. So given the high concentration of RS owners on here I thought I'd ask the question; do you have any regrets about buying / owning your RS4?

Mate you get this with any nice looking car, regardless if its a supped up Nova to a Lambo, I had a 13 year old BMW keyed and I can count the amount of times on more than one hand that I have known some body who has had a car vandalised, this is why we pay for insurance, we must enjoy our cars, not worry about them every 5 minutes (wish is the case even with me)!P_G wrote:third party vandalism perhaps attributed to it being such a top end car and jealousy had ruined the RS ownership experience.
I have no regrets what so ever, however, I wish i was more clued up about he car when i purchased it from the dealers, so I could blag a few more bits and bobs such as Splash screen etc etc, and maybe would be better if the car came with a MP3 and blue tooth connection built in, but mechanically I'm happy with the car (OK I will over look the notchy gear changes from cold ahem)
Summary: No regrets what so ever!
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

No regrets, it is a superb car. As mentioned above, a complete all-rounder that manages to be very good (rather than mediocre) in all categories.
One thing which I would change is the yellow indicator lenses as my car is an '06 but other than that, it is pretty much perfect for my needs.
I tend to change my cars every 12-18 months but I am seriously reconsidering that strategy with the RS4. I think the next car would have a hell of a job filling the RS4's boots.

3 months in now and 4k and I love it. Its true about them getting quicker!!! Did a 110 mike trip last night over muddy country roads and dual carriage ways. What a drive!!! it went and went and never grumbled or spluttered all the way. Id call it a "hungary " type of car. Ok it looks like its just completed a stage in the welsh mountains this morning but again mud sort of suits it in a weird sot of way
but god its just excellent in every dept. Its got to be the best allround car available Ok so its a bit tempremental in the morning and of course it has a couple of hiccups here and there with ECu's and coil packs but cars with character have these and thats part of the experience.
Ive got a test drive in a M3 on Tuesday not because I want one( I do have an issue with them I'm afraid) just to confirm that The RS is in a different league and a class above but I suppose I am a little curious of the Beamer V8....
The only negatives IMHO are the stealerships. They really are the worst Ive come across with all the brand names Ive had ownership with. But as its so reliable I hope I dont have to deal with them much. I could also live with a little more power ....... Twin T's sat on a V8 like the 6 mmmmmm
Long my she reign

If ever its rivals have a slight edge M3, C63 etc with motoring journalists its the "WOW' factor offered by rear wheel drive. My dream RS would have a button similar to the 'S' that disengages quattro and sends all 414 bhp to the rear. Traction control off = smoke. Doubt I would use that often but it would be great to have. Wonder what it would feel like if someone removed the front drive shafts??

I am selling my RS tomorrow after a years ownership. I have covered some 20k miles in it, been to the nurburgring twice and have used it also as a daliy work hack. Overall, its been a great car, it goes well (although if i had kept it longer more power via a remap would have been needed as you get used to the performance pretty quickly). Certainly i have never had more people giving me thumbs up or congratulating me on a "nice car mate". It certainly gets attention. This has been the first Audi i have owned and here's where i feel a little let down. My car has had its fair share of warranty work (scabbing wheels, foggy lenses, replaced seat leather, corroded wheel centres, warped brake discs, water in the boot lid + the various factory recalls). Mine was a March 06 car, so not one of the early batches where perhaps i would expect some issues.
As a practical family car, again here is where i had more issues. The boot is plenty big enough, but the rear leg room with the buckets is tiny and the buckets always caused issues for people getting in and out..
Its also depreciation heavily in my ownership, 11k in 12 months is not a very good return. Running costs never bothered me, fuel range was good enough.
Will i miss it yes, would i ever buy another, no.

Sorry to hear your woes Steve. The problems you had with the buckets in terms of size and durability are exactly why I went for the Recaro Sports Seats. That and my Tree trunk legs wouldn't fit in the buckets!
What are you buying next and is it a direct replacement?
Funny, because when I have my warped discs replaced last week I was advised it was unusual and the blame for those who did warp them was on track usage

Yea me too Steve, I understand where your coming from about the rear seats, I mus admit i keep forgetting I have a 4 door saloon, as Iv had a coupe for past 5 years lol, My car is also a March 06 batch as well, but have not experienced those problems, so what will it be next Steve, RS6?..or are yo leaving the Audi boat altogether?

Audi customer service - extremely poor at all levels, local dealership to Audi UK.
