sorry... First Service?

Post by 55JWB » Tue Nov 27, 2007 4:31 pm

Sorry, guys I have searched but not turned up much on the first service.... :?

Mine due very soon, been quoted £290 all in from Northampton Audi, I am pretty sure this is a fair price...

Is the first service technically just an oil change??

Anything else I should be getting them to do/check, I am pretty sure I dont need any ECU updates, any Nav ones required?

I have asked them to tighten drivers door handle which is rattling and loose, and sort out the revised pollen filter to stop the howling at speed.. Anything else??

I asked how much the oil was and its £120 of the £290, not sure what Opie can supply for, I am emailing them at the same time as doing this.. if there is not much in it, I will let Audi supply it.. I have told them I have put 6 litres in, in 12,500 miles, car will have done 15k at the time of the service, I got it with 2.5k miles on it...

Will be done just before my next trip to Thorney's next week...

sorry for replying to my own post, just ordered 12 Litres of oil from Opie using the RS246 discount, all in delivered next day £99 its saving me more like £50 as I will have at least 2 litres left over that would have cost me £15 each from Halfords anyway...

I was charged £320 for a first AVS service by Southampton Audi, who also did the 0050 to 0080 ECU SW update (which I'm negotiating to get reversed because I don't like how the car feels now).

The latest NAV SW is 0600 which comes on the 2007_2 DVD. But I haven't seen any differences between 0600 and the previous 0550.

Camberley Audi charged me £178.65 with me supplying my own Castrol Edge from Opie Oils. Told em to leave the ECU at 0050 as I wasn't having any flashing ECU light symptoms (that 0080 is supposed to fix).

When I serviced mine at 4K (running in finished) the dealer insisted it be updated or the warrantee would be invalid!!!, so I said do it then.

Dealers make it up they really do. It's an optional upgrade.

How many Microsoft upgrades can you think of that made things worse? I can think of quite a lot.

Some owners, me included, are reporting that the upgrade has lost the "rawness" that is part of the essential character of an RS4. As I said to the dealer "I drove an RS4 here this morning, this evening you gave me a fast S4 to drive home". The power is still there, but the character has gone all "soft" ... and I don't like it that way.

I didn't have any cold start problems, I didn't have any ECU fault codes being thrown or engine fault light coming on - so I want it back how it was thank you very much!

Interesting comment Dave, I've had my RS with the 0080 upgrade since the start so don't know what the difference is. Is it that different?

Trust me P_G it's that different, mine was like a rabid dog before the upgrade now it's like a slightly stroppy labrador.
Still love it though :D

Second that. It was GREAT fun to drive before, now it's just GOOD fun to drive. Went like a rabid dog and felt like it too, now it stills goes like a rabid dog but it's the feel that's gone.

Service books dont look like they have been stamped  and DIS display showing serivce due in "----- miles ----- days" I take it this means they have not reset it?? anyone??

Cheers
