Newbie / possible buyer, with loads of questions.......
I too had a deposit on an M3. But in June pulled out and bought an RS4 saloon - I am very pleased I did. The M3 is, in my opinion, just not what the last model was when it was launched. This morning I spoke to a client who has had his new M3 for just over 3 weeks. He is disappointed in it - says fuel is terrible 17mpg (heheh not much worse than mine then!), but that it lets it's tail go at every roundabout - not something he found the old model did - and not something he really wanted. But still both are great cars, but I suspect that the residuals of the new M3 will not hold a candle to that of the old E46 model on launch. Good luck in your decision - not too bad a problem to have ;@)
Is it my imagination but are the dealer prices for second hand RS4 saloons actually increasing? i did a search and most 06/56 plate cars are 44k + and 07/57 cars seem to be 46k plus. There are even a few 57 plate cars with minimal mileage on up for over 50k. Im sure this was not the case a few months back.
I did do a search on avants but when I put my age in (41) it chucked me out and said I was far too young to be buying an estate car.

Call me boring, but I don't particularly WANT the tail swinging out on every roundabout.....mrdeli wrote:I too had a deposit on an M3. I paid 43k for my 2006 saloon, that was one of the cheapest fully loaded examples withing a 200 mile radius of where I live, I had to drive an hour half north to pick it up!ARSEY4 wrote:Is it my imagination but are the dealer prices for second hand RS4 saloons actually increasing? i did a search and most 06/56 plate cars are 44k + and 07/57 cars seem to be 46k plus. For the car yes, financially not so sure. I had one for a couple of hours whilst my ecu was flashed. It was a lovely car but it really is a lazy GT, its quite quick but feels a little out of breath compared to rs4 especially when making progress up the rev range. If I had one I would constantly be thinking about the RS4 and feeling slightly miffed that I didnt get one. I would think that depn would be heavier on the s5 than rs4 purely because of numbers. Lovely looking car though, in black reminds me of a bentley continental. If an RS4 is a no no for and you really hanker for an RS5 why not try the a5 3.0 oil burner? you could get a decent specced one new for 36k max.AidenL wrote:Folks, would any of you consider the S5 a viable alternative to an RS4, newer shape, platform, and a filler until the RS5 comes along? Any thoughts?
When was that and what mileage? just curious if my suspisions have any basis.SJ-RS4 wrote:I paid 43k for my 2006 saloon, that was one of the cheapest fully loaded examples withing a 200 mile radius of where I live, I had to drive an hour half north to pick it up!ARSEY4 wrote:Is it my imagination but are the dealer prices for second hand RS4 saloons actually increasing? i did a search and most 06/56 plate cars are 44k + and 07/57 cars seem to be 46k plus. I suppose what draws me to the S5 is the newness of it - I guess its the performance Audi shape of the future - love the vlack with red leather too - it is an imposing shape.
I do recognise the appeal of the A5 d , but I can't bring myself to buy a diesel !
