remaps - yet again
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: remaps - yet again
I do believe that Revo use Weltmeister (WRC) dyno in Silverstone. It would be good to see some results here of what the B7 does with a Revo map, std and mapped.
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Most modern ECUs include a checksum that is calculated based upon the contents of the firmware image. Modifying just one bit of the firmware image will alter this checksum - detecting a remap is simple as comparing the current ECU checksum with the factory image ECU checksum.
Not sure if this is the case with Bosch MED ECU that the RS4 uses, but I'd say 99% it would have such a feature.

Never did fit the cat-delete, they are on classified right now, brand new and unused, interested? Surely its the last thing on your car to be done.

Had the same with the wife's ST, but you can expect that from a Ford!
Have some spare Duck Tape if you need it.

If check sums are not carefully matched the car will develop other issues, check sums are NOT a problem to remappers.mixja wrote:Most modern ECUs include a checksum that is calculated based upon the contents of the firmware image. Lets not question how easy it would be for an AUDI tec. to inspect your ECU, or simply analyse exhaust gases for a change in normal, they build such sophisticated supercars that if required could find out very quickly and their goes your warranty and a whole lot of cash.

It is naive in the extreme to think that the manufacturer of something so complex cannot easily see when changes have been made, or does not have procedures in place to do so.
