I would imagine it is either extra strengthening in the car or parhaps a spare wheel?

Is it true or simply fiction that the 2008 RS4 will be spec to 450bhp ?

Well it'll be at least 2009 before the RS4 arrives, next year Quattro GmBh will supposedly be making the RS6 and the RS5 and then supposedly there is an RS-TT so I doubt there will be enough space for a production run of B8 RS4's given Audi have already said they do not intend building another RS production line.

As for power, who knows, maybe a twin turbo FSi V8? Surely a carbon bonnet / winged / roofed RS for less weight would be a better compromise?

I'd be surprised if there is a B8 RS4 much before 2010.

If it follows current trend it would be a facelifted B9 variant that would get an RS model which wouldn't be for another 2-3 years.

Yeah probably.

Whatever the version I sincerely doubt you'd only see a ~30hp increase in the cars performance figures.

That would only match the supposed performance of the C63. That was BMW's mistake with the new M3....only managing to match the B7 RS4's performance.

That said if they stick with the NA paradigm it'll be tough to get much more power out of a NA 4.2L V8 although the F430 Scuderia manages to generate 503bhp from a NA 4.3L V8 at 8640rpm.

However, its a £172K car.

My guess is it'll have a V10 or a turbo-charged V8.

Mmm not sure I'd call it a "mistake", more a testament to the engineering prowess of quattro GmbH.

Interesting video here

It is very important how many miles the rs4 had. If it was under 10k, then no wonder. My friend who also owns an rs4 tried vs another friend in an e92 m3, and they were neck to neck.

the same would go for the e92 M3 and all cars actually. without many miles the engine hasn't been properly broken in yet and there is still power left to be had.
