Spoke to Craig yesterday and he did say there was 2 sides to the story, however thats not the reason for the post. Reading between the lines there seems to be some chance that the relationship could, and should be repaired for all our sakes.

C'mon guys, move on and help the people that matter and sort whatever out if possible.

There is no digital TV tuner for the RNS-E, and I don't think there will ever be one. You could fit a the IMA from Kufatec as their IMA module can control a digital TV tuner from the RNS-E. The other problem is TV reception is car is, well pants, and for the cost of the parts and the install charge it's just not worth it. IMO... I've got genuine Audi TV setup in my A8 and really not that good.

I had the analogue TV in my 2003 S4, and is was so pants that I just can't justify the cost again so I didn't order it in my RS4.

TV reception in mine is great...but that could just be because I'm in london. Haven't actually tried it elsewhere.

Yep that'll be me, say as I find!

Lets start washing, you first?

What's wrong with a VXR8 anyway? It will allow me to have a great daily car, enjoy a new toy for 6-8 months till the RS6 arrives next year.

Like very many RS4 owners I wanted to have bluetooth fitted but keep the RS4 wheel. After much searching in London NOBODY could do this with OEM parts. If it hadn't been for Craigyb I might have a large number of points/fines by now. He solved a big problem for me, and from what I saw never explicitly advertised.

You could argue that since several people on here have "paid" me in kind (beer and petrol!) for doing some recoding and simple installations (e.g. Bluetooth kit) on their Audis (that they were either unable or unwilling to do themselves), that I too have made "money" (or at least not had to spend my own money buying beer and petrol - quite a saving with an RS4!) from this site too.

In reality all I was doing was sharing the knowledge I acquired while upgrading my own Audi with fellow members here - to our mutual benefit.

And the "to our mutual benefit" is the key phrase - we ALL win when we are able to share our knowledge and experience, we ALL lose when that is unable to happen.

Initially I did not want to get involved, (I have sold my RS, one of the most depressing days of my life)

So I’m not entirely sure if my comments would be welcomed, anyhow.

Craigyb has done us all a great service, a quick poll would show that an enormous amount of people had their blue tooth option retro-fitted. Who did most of the R&D on getting this to work seeing as Audi was playing silly buggers?

Ultimately this forum was invaluable source of information and I got my car configured just the way I wanted it. This was achieved through knowledge sharing with my fellow RS246 members.

As a side note: I work in IT some of the problems that I solve on a daily basis simply would not have been possible without the help of global forums.

No disrespect to the mods, and rules are rules, but I guess sometimes all that’s required is a little compromise.

Everybody has a different situation, but in this case, the said person traded openly at first and carried on via PM after being warned. The difference is that this guy was actually a trader, as in, he runs a business doing exactly as you claim. We have all popped down the road to help out a fellow member, that is not trading, my old quattro would not be running today had that not been the case, and an endless supply of relevent info is always welcome especially when it comes from people who work at these things all day, but that is why we have Trade RS status, for a very reasonable price, it prevents traders earning money without putting something back in the pot. We have a small budget from this which 100% goes into running the site, along with contributions from our own pockets as and when needed. That is what pays to keep the site going. it grates when a trader refuses to contribute claiming they derive no income from the site, so maybe we should change the poll to read, ' Who paid CraigB to instal whatever?'

When put like this, it only sounds fair....

I found craig via this site, I found his website from his sig and paid him to do some work on my car, I would not have found him if it were not for this site... he was very informative on general matters in addition and was a good guy to meet in person... I dont know how much the trader package is, but if it is "very reasonable" for the good of the site that was also providing him with business it seems a fair policy....

By the way Graham if you are reading this, you owe me £1,000 of sorting your nav screen with my vagcom! ;)

I haven't been on this forum that long and I didn't experience craigyb's 'open' trading. If one offers services that other forum members might be interested in (audi-related or not), people are bound to find out and ask the said person about it. This will generate some (indirect) income for the trader but I would seriously doubt RS246 was a significant source of income for craigyb. Being pm'ed by others who might wish his services is inevitable given the amount of advice he used to give. Hence why should he pay trader subscription?

I guess the way it comes across is that if you trade in something, you are not allowed to join this forum and post anything (in case you give advice which might point towards your business) unless you pay trader subscription. Personally I think that is utter madness and has driven out a very valuable member of the forum. I hope it can all be sorted out so he can return.
