The depreciation figures are wrong. You will have difficulty finding any RS4 (saloon or otherwise) with decent spec for anything less than £41-42k....and those cars are '55 and '06 reg cars with around 15-20k miles anyway. Maybe a LHD car for £33k, I'll give you that.

Hence the autocar article (and auto express) depreciation figures are horse-<beep>.

I'd be interested to know whether if you increased your RS4 rev limit to 8500rpm whether you'd still feel the M3 had the edge? Many owners here feel the difference this makes is substantial....

That would be interesting to find out wouldn't it.

Bear in mind though that the E92 M3 feels artificially restricted to 8400 rpm, it feels like it would keep increasing in power until 9000 rpm, hence one of the reasons why a CSL version is so tantalising.

When I drove the RS4 and M3 back to back (ignoring the M3's higher rev limit) there was a discernable harder pull in the M3 between 6000-8000 rpm. The RS4's engine feels lazier and more relaxed by comparison, which I realise is difficult to imagine considering how well the RS4 pulls at those kind of revs.
