Sick passengers

Post by drcarrera » Fri Aug 17, 2007 3:09 pm

I'm on the cusp of getting an RS4 Avant but I've a nagging worry about car sickness!

What are people's experiences with the well being of passengers? Is the RS4 prone to queasyness? We'll be taking passengers quite a lot, and one is of delicate disposition (in fact so am I if the test drive we had earlier is anything to go by!) . I don't want to have to swap it in in a month because people are feeling (or worse, being  ) ill in it all the time!

Nope, just the standard set up (and Recaros, not that that should make any difference!).

The one post on here I've found that mentions it said the SS was actually better for this, btu I guess a lot depends on the individual.

I have trouble sitting in the passenger seat but i thought that was a control thing.

Actually a few people have complained of sickness including myself, mine has the sports suspension, tbh i thought it was because i was getting old.

I've never had any passengers complain of car sickness. Downright fear yes!!!

P.S. I have the standard suspension and Recaro (non-bucket) seats.

Same here, no issues of sickness, unless defacting in ones underwear can be counted as sickness (translated to passengers shitting themselves).

Depends more on driving style than the car, although i guess car rawness has a part to play. An example was that i went round Nordschleife in a Porsche Cup Car & damn near spat out all my internal organs as the ride was so hardcore. Did the same track in the Ring Taxi in a time similar to the Cup Car & never felt a tingle in my tummy.

My youngest son does get car sick, but to date has never complained of feeling ill in the RS4, although he does in virtually everything else I own. He does complain about not being able to see much in the back but I would think thats the bucket seats...

None of my passengers have ever felt sick...from young children to my older relatives. They all comment on how silky smooth the ride is.

I have to admit, it rides superbly...really soaks up bumps well, while remaining firm and communicative enough to be fun. Mine is the standard suspension.

No car sickness reported from passengers yet (standard suspension + Recaros) - four adults to Goodwood and back from London with no problems last weekend.

My sister on a trip to Birmingham must have been sick about 5 times in the Audi. She did not like it ... I think that with the suspension being firm, massive acceleration and instantaneous stopping power, it must feel like a fun-fair ride in the back seat!

Never had any problems, carrying all sorts of passengers. Theyre so busy holding on/closing their eyes/saying WOW that they dont have time to be sick.

Only problem Ive had is squeezing some larger people into the passenger bucket seat. But I love the buckets and they were definitely the right choice!!!
Everyone is unique, just like you and me.

as i posted before, wife and several freinds who know i drive erratic to say the least were sick in my first audi avant with std suspension, but no such complaints with ss kit on the new car not even from the kids.SS suspension is a huge improvement over the standard,am going to nurburgring in september will see if car is quicker around than standard, something tells me it will be.

cheers simon
