Revotechnik re-map
With all the talk with re-maps at the moment, is there anyone running the Revo software?.I suspect that the Revo map is a generic one, and not a custom tailored set up.Do we think that most tuners maps are roughly the same, and by that, i mean altering the fueling, ignition timing and other parameters, to around the same levels as each other, or are they all quite different.I have a good Revo dealer near to me, but the other tuners we have mentioned here are all miles away. This is an important equation here, as if there are any problems encountered,a quick trip to the tuner is worth its weight in gold. So, really what im asking is, if the tuners are roughly the same, could it come down to locality and convenience?.Regards, SIMON.

RE: Revotechnik re-map
Simon, their is defo slightly more to it that just location & convenience.
Can agree that the results between tuners are likely not that different, but for me the biggest factor is experience & trust, alongside results. It's of course subjective, but i would only ever go with a tuner i know & trust & no matter what else is available for less money, or even perceived better gains, then i'd stick with my trusted choice. Of course if i was following a route into unchartered territory then i'd seek advice & recommendations, as i did with my current Milltek scenario, as my trusted tuner is not really in the market of supplying & fitting exhausts, whereas many others are.
I know Revo fairly well & their maps on VW's & Seats are raved about. They also do alot of work with the Porsche Cup teams, however their market appears to be at the smaller & cheaper end & i know of some recent turbulence so i'd not send my £50K car their as i'd prefer a more tailored map & not a generic one.
The bottom line is you'll make your own decision, but to date unless i've missed something/someone, the 2 main players in the B7 RS4 re-map space appear to be DMS or MRC & so far both appear to be offering very similar gains with great feedback, so as a starting point i'd suggest one of those 2.

RE: Revotechnik re-map
Forget about what the tuners claim, I could plug your RS4 into my vagcom and claim 100bhp extra.
I always go by how the car drives, I've had cars tuned before(my B5 RS4 is at the moment) and one tuner had over 30bhp more on the same dyno but I went for the map that is in it now because it drove better and most of all felt faster.
Forget dyno's, you don't look at one of them when your driving, it's how the car drives that puts the smile on your face.

AMEN!

Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I-want-an-RS: I agree a dyno should be used to confirm a power gain or loss. But it needs to be done on the same day, same dyno, same tuner with the dyno showing HP at the wheels not a calculated crank hp figure

Hello all,
lost password so have not been around.I have recently loaned revo my car for finalising the code . I am more than happy with the results (i suppose with being the mule its bespoke). From what you all say my car is very similar to other tuners results. Will try to post more (i hate computers)
