It's a tick-box too far

Spoke at reasonable length to a ceramic owner, who's best thing to say after nearly £5k and 5k miles was how clean the fronts stayed without the brake dust...

I think the ceramic breaks last 3 times longer.. not sure that would justify its costs though, and if its only the fronts you get for the extra option, then i'm glad i don't have it on my avant

The discs should last about 200-300k miles! The pads on mine (ceramics) need changing very soon and i have done 16k miles, Audi say the pads alone will cost about £400!

Can you retro fit them?
Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Its just awesome how you can use the CISC! Only 19" alloys fits but hey ... the hotter they get, the better they brake ... no fading at all! Just a simple must-have-option :)

German Autobahn & Racetrack is the right answer :)

Can't remember the last time I braked hard on a motorway, other than to avoid a sudden & unexpected accident (in which case, standard brakes woud surely be better)

Ceramics certainly fade less and grab quicker when hot, but how does that apply to motorways?

You can change the Pads if you want a different feel/more stopping power.

You never brake on the Autobahn and RS4 is not suited for the racetrack.

A retrofit requires calipers, pads and discs. As John says for cheaper stopping power why not get some race pads? The pads i have ordered have a massive operating temp range, upto 800deg C. And the friction never drops below about .53 at any temp. That is way, way higher than std pads even at optimum operating temperature. To put that into perspective, EBC Blue pads have a max temp of 750degC and a nominal friction of .4...!

In fact that has got to be ceramic type friction levels when hot...?
