might be a silly question about the audio

Post by kman » Wed Mar 21, 2007 7:44 pm

Had my new B7 RS4 for a few days now but just wondering how to get the audio system to be switched off as default when turning the car on.

I dont always have the radio/cd on in the car so its annoying having to keep switching it off when starting up! Tried putting the volume right down or muting the speakers before switching off, but as soon I fire her up its back on!

I'm guessing its something simple (and should have read the manual more thoroughly) but if anyone can quickly let me know what do to (apart from taking a hammer to the system) then it would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Press and hold in the volume switch for three seconds. If you just press it quickly it only mutes the system. Turn off before killing ignition and the radio wont come back on after re-starting the car.

Kman

Tell us what you think of the car.
You can't come on the site, ask for some help, and then not give us your impressions of your new car.
We all want to know.

Thanks simple1 I will try out your suggestion.

Nic, I've driven the car about 500 miles now, still taking it fairly easy but trying to stretch the engine through its rev range frequently. It's an awesome car, god bless! Lots of fun, great noise and very tactile. I love the interior (got recaros not buckets), still getting used to controls and functions and it is a bit of a head turner and seems very well put together (more so than the BMWs).

Coming from a BMW 535d M sport, the car feels a lot more tactile although the BM had tremendous amount of torque. Economy wise its not that great and thats maybe the only downside at the moment for me. I did also have an E46 M3 coupe which averaged 23-24mpg on Shell Optimax which was impressive but I don't think the RS4 can achieve that level. Overall though, I am pleased with the car!

Kman.

Thanks Kman for your thoughtful replies. Sounds like your a hard man to please.
Mine's coming in a few more weeks and i'm expecting a more "wow, f**king hell nora" response out of my mouth but now you've tempered my expectations a little.
But perhaps, living in Spain, and therefore having more of an opportunity to test the limits of such a car, i expect to be hollering and scraming for the rest of my life.

Did you see Clarkson's Top Gear RS4 test?
