Keep or sell!?!?!
Keep or sell!?!?!
I have the new M3 on order as I have done for quite some time now and it is still reallisticaly going to be a year before we start getting them, so do I sell the RS4 and buy something cheaper for the next 12 months as the RS4's are now starting to drop slightly in value or do I just keep it until the M3 is out.
Now I know you have to expect to lose money etc blah blah blah but any ideas how much the RS4 is going to be worth in 12 months time with approx 10 on the clock.!?!!??!

RE: Keep or sell!?!?!
What RS4 do you have and what spec (incl which seats!). FWIW I heard that the new M3 might not be in the UK until early 08.
Maserati GranTurismo GTS Auto, S3 Sportback, TT2 3.2 Roadster, Disco3 for the heavy stuff.
Same situation. Deposit at local BMW dealer for over 2yrs now for M3 (no idea where on list)
My decision is quite simple as I need 4 door practicality, so no saloon/estate M3, no deal.
I that case what about a new RS6, any idea when that's due??
For now my RS4 is quite simply the most complete car I have ever owned.

Im in the same boat.. RS4 now, purchased in June 06, M3 on order on list at spot 3.. from other forums, and Gareth on here, suggests the M3 won't be delivered till early-spring 08, so another year and a bit with the RS4 and change over to the M3.. or something in between.
For me, i've had my RS4 a short while, and i like to mix my cars up a bit, so can't wait for the new M3, so am going to jump into a new 335d coupe until probably Sept 07, and get something else for the interim period before the M3 arrives.. and judge closer to the time with latest rumours/spy shots/motorshow previews as to when the M3 can be expected. I don't necessarily need a 4 door car, and will make do with a coupe for a while and the relative inconveniences this brings compared to a 4 door saloon 'family friendlier' model. However it is hard to find a 4 door car, which can tick all the boxes.. only other car is a used M5 knocking round at £55k ish now.. but the depreciation on that is only going to be similar to the RS4, with higher running costs, so would you achieve anything apart from simply trying out another brand/model for a while which fulfills all your requirements?
Hard one.. i've made my choice, but its not due to pricing/satisfaction that the RS4 has achieved for me, more my selfish need to have a new car a lot, and not having many more commitments to flush my money on right now!
Hard to judge what the RS4 will be worth in a year but from the figs i saw when buying my RS4, the book prices are like this..
3 years £28,869.00
4 years £25,520.00
5 years £23,420.00
So after a year who knows.. I think from my own opinion £42k won't be hard to get, seeing as though the only real alternative will be the new M3 which won't be out for a while, so the longer that takes, the better the RS4 will do.. but obviously this is my opinion.. hardly fact, but its what im going on..

Thanks for your advise, after speaking with another broker he suggested 42k too.
I looked @ jumping into a CSL for the interim - nice car, didnt feel as quick especially as Ive had my re-mapped, also I think I will miss the creature comforts as well as the compliant ride of the RS4 over the CSL.
Although I do believe that the CSL would not drop in value much at all in that period.
Ummmmmm????????????

I was seriously looking into an RS4, but the numbers for sale WILL mean that the above figures will be accurate. Way too many about, way too many cancelled orders. Pick up the phone...they are everywhere.
I've a 6 March 06 2.0T FSI S-Line Multitronic Cab with 3000 miles (wife) at £32,500...best offer from dealer...£24,000 !!!
That's worse than the depreciation on my V8 Vantage......how !!!
I even looked at the M5...it was, is and remains one of the ugliest motors ever spawned
I understand the live for today attitude, having 'lived for today' many times with cars over the years, but the RS4 is seriously going to take a massive hit....supply and demand....always comes back to that.

Unless you are prepared to:
* Accelerate like nobody's business
* Struggle with the audio entertainment alternatives (including just listening to the engine and exhaust)
* Adjust the seats for that perfect driving position and comfort
* Use a cup holder that actually holds that Starbucks in place during hard cornering and braking
* Keep one eye in the rearview (1) watching for law enforcement (2) making sure no one rear ends you because of the superior brakes
* Answer endless questions at the gas station
* Orphan your sports car (993TT in my case) because the RS4 is that much fun
* Have the neighbors ask you to enable the `S' button BEFORE you pull out of the garage
* Have friends ask "So, how is the RS4" before they ask about you and your family
* Have other Audi drivers chase you on the highway just to give you the thumbs up
* Have Subaru WRX STIs and Mitsubishi Evos chase you on the highway looking for trouble
* Be frustrated in slow traffic, obsessed with finding that hole that will allow a bit of fun
* Enjoy seamless Bluetooth
* Find your way with the aid of a Nav system that works well
* Have kids and young adults ask if the car is supercharged because of the unique engine sound
* Have great night visibility
* Have others get out of your way because of those headlights
* Walk further in parking lots because you are finding that spot far from attacking mini-vans
* Deal with friends always trying to get you to hand over the keys
* Look out the window multiple times a day to see how the RS4 looks in changing light
* Listen to wife telling you to be careful EVERY time you are headed out
* Seek out little traveled roads with curves and elevation changes
* Enjoy the best overall sport sedan available today

True, not a high number, but realistically numbers don't mean anything to Joe Public. What does, is the number of cars readily available at dealers. And there are plenty! Supply/Demand rules everything!LegalEagle wrote:Audi GB told me 2200 cars maximum for all right hand drive cabs, avants and saloons in the UK. Doesn't sound too many to me.
I'm still not ruling one out though - but I'm under no illusion that it will hold it's value well.
RS4 B5. Where it all started.
RS6+ Never to be replaced.
Replaced by: 997 Turbo. Didn't like.
Replaced by RS6. I like(d).
Land Rover Defender. Not as nippy.
Back with C6 RS6
And again C7 RS6

Decided to keep it now, been looking and looking and nothing else is such an all rounded car, and I done a DB9 out the Dartford Tolls last nite (yes I know it's immature) but I thought, this is a 4 door that I can get my clubs, mates, Nieces and nephews in, do long jorneys in,it's quite, comfortable so that's why I'm staying with the RS4. And it sounded absolutely gorgeous going through the Limehouse link too!!!!!!!!!
