I suspect it will be Week 50 BUILD date, not Week 50 DELIVERY date - if there's any truth in it at all (this saga has been going on so long, I'm getting a bit cynical - No! You don't say!).

When TomTom charge £60 it's not for TMC. TMC is limited in the amount of incidents and quantity of info. The £60 is for the GPRS service.

I do think the TMC service with a one time cost is better value though.

I think Audi feel they be able to charge as the upgrade wiill also include verised maps and functionality, much the same as buying a more modern version of Map DVD would give, the issue with this is that the system does not fully function and as it is a fix, they may find they are footing the bill... Have to say the TMC function works very well, my Rangey has it and I depend on it on a daily basis.
TomTom and Snooper charge for the updating of database after six months, if you pay nothing it will continue to work will it not... all be it on a unupdated basis.

Hmmm ... according to the TomTom web site the £60 (or it might be Euros) is for the TMC receiver:

"The TomTom RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver gets traffic information on the go, to your GO. For the one-off cost of the receiver you can get traffic updates and let your GO reroute you around congestion"

TomTom Plus uses the GPRS method to send data at high speed which is billed on a per megabyte basis.

I think you may be getting confused (perhaps my fault for not being clear!) It's £60 for a years subscription for TomTomPlus i.e. via GPRS (plus your phone costs) or it's a one of cost of around £60 for the TMC receiver.

This was todays reply to a query last night.......

"Hi Simon,

The current information is that we have tested our retro fit option and it works.

We are unfortunately now waiting on the factory to supply us with the relevant DVD's.

Apologises for missing the original October timescale.

Lets hope the upgrade includes new maps!I went to Milltek last week to have a look at the cats which are available for the car, I asked Phil for directions which he duly gave me mentioning that they where next to the audi garage. Great i thought, the sat nav has all the audi garages in so i put it as my destination and off i went, only to arrive at my destination and find that the garage had moved about 18 months ago to a new location!!!!! :x
So much for upto date software!!!!!!!!

Thomas at Audi replied to my email query this morning stating that it looked like the resolution would be available to us (those on his list) in Jan and he said that they were 'considering' resolving it FOC but that handn't been confirmed yet.

My first post - received my Daytona Grey Beast 10 days ago and still trying to wipe the silly grin off my face....or is it the G-force?

I have just contacted Tom to get on the list. FYI: I just upgraded the Sat Nav DVD in my wifes V70 T5 and hey presto the TMC has now kicked in. If Volvo can do it surely Audi can too!

My Sat Nav was installed FOC as my dealer FORGOT my order which i placed in December 2005 with a £2000 deposit. They kept saying that the build date had been delayed and when i eventually wrote to Jeremy Hicks (MD Audi uk) his PA kindly looked into the case for me. Turned out my car wasn't ordered until end of April!!!!!! Unbelievably incompetent, but Audi uk chucked in the Tech Pac and a free track day next spring as compensation for the 5 months delay.

Still - it was worth waiting for.
