RE: Help fitting towbar
Sounds crazy not being able to fit a towbar on an estate car as well, have you checked with Audi UK?
Towbar
I had a towbar fitted to my RS6, this was also a car that was tuned by MTM there in Germany and it was allegedly 535bhp! I had the bar fitted at an Audi dealer and they were OK with this.
I was told when at the factory tour, I had seen some RS6's driving around the site with towbars on that they will cope fine but in true litigation style they were worried if you were towing a caravan up the alps in freezing conditions what would happen? Or accross the desert towing a pigpen, again what would happen?
It seems that whatever you do won't be right, so put it on and they have to prove that you were towing when the car went wrong or that that was the reason for the failure.
Good luck.

Have just joined the forum and seen this topic, hence my late response. I had a Westphalia detachable towbar fitted to my Rs6 Avant. Used it for general towing of a light trailer to the tip and towing a Lotus Sunbeam to the nurburgring with a 4 wheel car trailer. Had no problems.
I now have a Rs4 Avant (Oct 2006) and have had that fitted with a Westphalia detachable. In both cases there has been the need to slightly cut a bit of the rear bumper/spoiler.
Let me know if you want further details. Both were fitted in Leicester.
