Delivery miles

Post by baza » Wed Aug 30, 2006 6:33 pm

Spoke to the dealer and said that i dont want any miles on the clock when i pick it up. He said there will be a far few because of road testing and because its a high preformance engine they road test them for longer at the factory. Dont know how true this is, so how many miles max should i expect or how many did yours have on delivery?

Thanks

Baz

Mine had 36 miles on it when I collected it, 6 of those on the trip - so maybe 30 at the factory (it's said that all RS models are tested by quattro gmbH before they leave the factory) and 6 by the dealer?

When it was delivered at the dealership, mine had 39 miles.
When I collected the car, it had 64 miles on it.
After I questioned the discrepency I was told that RS4's are tested by the dealership and if necessary the spark plugs replaced (new ones did come with the car - no longer the case apparently as they run lean at the factory now).

So that's an extended run (necessary apparently to warm the oil up) and the car is tested.
Then if the new spark plugs are fitted, the procedure is repeated, hence the delivery mileage.

Did I buy the story? Well, what are you supposed to do in the circumstances...?

Mine had 34 miles the day after it arived at the stealers. Like Tanoga, won't know what it has on it by the time I pick it up on Friday.
I did, however point out the mileage and suggested that it shouldn't rack up too many on the 200 yrd sprint from secure storage to PDI centre to showroom round trip
Bet you it has nearer 50 (and also smells of Mcdonalds!)

Mine had 50ish miles on it, the same as paulL who picked his up with me at the same time.
didn't smell of mcdonalds though mind, so guess we win on that front.
I did go and see my car when it was delivered but didn't get to check the mileage unfortunately, didn't want to give me the key, otherwise i would have been tempted to start it and blow my spark plugs most probably..

Mine had 60 miles on the clock, but what's more worrying is that the lap timer had been used with three readings of around 32/33 seconds. Probably just testing it worked  yeah right!

My car 69 klms (41 miles) on it at delivery.
It had 63 klms (37 miles) when it came of the transporter.

I told the Service Manager that I only wanted their senior tech to drive it and he said he wld ensure that this was done.

I was more than happy when I picked up the car and noted the delivery miles.

:D

VAG or other programmes can determine the maximun engine reve over a period - ask simple as his showed that the reve did not go higher than 4400 rpm during the run in period.
I would not mind if the car had been driven, however I would go bananas if it had been abused or someone had driven the car outside of the specified parameters for the first so many K miles

Mc D's smell was sorted with...... leaving car in garage overnight with roof and windows open.......... and a day out at Silverstone on the Audi Experience............... :notworthy: and an explanation that petrol station was next door to McD's so no extra miles would have been covered. :bash:
Richy I think you have misunderstood my posting, I kept the car below 4000 revs, not the car limiting the revs...... I am sure it would have revved to 8000 if I had asked it to 8) .............
