Anyone thinking of a re-map and de-limit??

Post by djcevo » Wed Jul 12, 2006 6:12 pm

Just wondering as I'm thinking of getting it done. I appreciate the gains will prob only be about 25bhp but it's also the de-limit that I'm after.

Any thoughts???

25bhp on a standard B7 RS4??? OMG... I'd like to see dyno graphs of this when you get it done!!!

Just a thought,

Yeah I think 25bhp would be really good. If you got another 20 from exhaust and DP, that would be a noticeable gain I would think.

what is this remap? we don't have any ECU programming here in the states yet for the RS4. what do you have over there as of now?

DMs are doing a re-map, giving about 25-27 bhp and 30 lbs torque........ there are several running about which they have done, I expect once mine is run in, it will get the Andover treatment.... it would be rude not to!

MAHA dyno sheets to prove the claims?

25bhp from a normally aspirated car? Are you sure?? I don't honestly think you would get more than 5 if you were lucky. Afterall a chip tuning company only really has igntion advance to play with, and I can't see a degree or two of advance producing 25bhp. From what I understood, years ago a normally aspirated car which the manufacturer has mapped on poor fuel, high altitude etc. so it can run anywhere has potential to be re-mapped for our climate and good fuel - so 3 or so degrees of advance would make a valid improvement. But on todays cars with knock sensors and the like, can't personally see where the gains could be made. I guess you could sharpen the throttle response to make the car feel a bit quicker. I could be wrong.

No offense weeloiled but you are wrong, had a 2004 996 c2 before RS4 and had that re-mapped with a gain of 18 bhp, before that had an M5 and got 19 out of that so it is possible. When I started my car owning life in 205gti's, golf gti's and R19 16v they would only gain about 5 bhp but they had about a quarter of the power of the cars I own now so the figures do stack up. Certainly no more than about 25 bhp for a N/A engine true.

Man if an ECU flash can do 25hp and 30tq on this car, I will be a as happy as a pig in sh1t. if you figure another 8-15hp from exhaust, another 10-15hp from DPs, we have the makings of something here...

Now about that supercharger :)

Cool...we have members in Kuwait too !

I think the point is 'they have told you' - unless there's a nice dyno plot and figures to prove it people will remain sceptical... and to be honest, if I were you I would too...

There's a LOT of tuners out there claiming all sorts of figures on all sorts of cars. You place a LOT of trust in someone who tunes your car... my advice is to do your research before parting with your cash...

I have the proof, my car has been remapped by Ray West. He has managed to get another 24 bhp from it.

At 6300 rpm the increase is over the standard is 28 bhp!!!

Base car ran 402 bhp 1 month ago and this time ran 407 bhp so they will make their power with more miles under their belt.

I have a Dyno plot which I will scan when I'm next in the office (thurs). So peak power at the moment is 431bhp and should achieve 440 before long with a few more miles completed.

Ray has done a couple of my cars now and I would fully recommend him to you.

Mr. Collins mentioned MTM are working on a blower for the beast. Now that's more like to produce the toque!
