Flat f-ing tyre!!!!!!!!!!!
Flat f-ing tyre!!!!!!!!!!!
Just gone out to my car and it has a completly flat rear tyre. What's the score with these tyre repair kit things?? If I use it can I have the tyre repaired if its just a nail for instance or is it the case that if I do use the repair kit it renders the tyre useless, or is it best that I take the wheel off and down to have the repair done - any help would be most useful. Cheers
RE: Flat f-ing tyre!!!!!!!!!!!
If you put the goo in them, they cant be repaired............... and I guess the tyre will be hard to get initially. Take it down to get it fixed, as long as the repair is in the centre of the tread section, it should be fine.

False economy on a 155mph car IMHO - get a new tyre.

a) Not readily available yet.........
b) Considerably more than £150.00
I read the post as a 'what shall I do to get me out of the sh1t'..... Obviously not a long term fix....... If it were me I would be looking for a fifth wheel to take on long journeys, sat on the side of a French Autoroute for 4 hrs before when a tyre blew out and goo was no use........
Couldn't agree more, you certainly learn from the experience, a Welsh mountain road for me last year. I now carry a 19" OEM spare in the boot

Why does everyone think the tyres will be difficult to get? they're not specific to the car like a Lotus or Porsche Tyre simply off the shelf performance stuff, hence fitting three different types so far.
try these guys for the new tyre. they don't fit them but they will deliver to your door and tell you who the nearest fitters are. And apparently Costco's are really cheap for Pirellis (or Michelins I can't remember which)

Well this is my tyre which failed on Thursday after driving approx 300 miles to Le Mans

Contacted the RAC and all the local tyre suppliers and no one could get me a tyre before 3pm this afternoon.
Fortunately I contacted someone I met last year at Le Mans who worked for Audi UK and they were able to aquire me a spare wheel and tyre from their German colleagues who were supplying the course cars there.
Here's the Audi Germany Technical Team changing my wheel and giving the car a quick check over.

Full marks to Audi and their excellent customer service. Big kick up the arse to the RAC who wouldn't repatriate my car because their European policy doesn't cover tyre damage.

Depends on what you mean by difficult... In Scotland, Wales, Devon etc it is rare that you would find many places that stock 255/35/19's. If you storm your way through a side wall or get a nail in the edge of the tyre on a friday after 5pm, then you've got to wait until Monday until they can order a tyre for delivery Mon or Tues. Personally I've been subject to a very long wait in Oban (after exhausting the Yellow Pages) and on another occasion had to travel 200mile round trip up to Bristol when in the South West to find somewhere that stocks tyres of that size.Mikeyboy wrote:Why does everyone think the tyres will be difficult to get? they're not specific to the car like a Lotus or Porsche Tyre simply off the shelf performance stuff, hence fitting three different types so far.
Although I did find a world-class supplier in Swansea when I did two side walls in Wales (Grief, I'm unlucky with tyres!!!) as they stock literally every size of tyre that exists, four hhuuugggeee warehouses full of tyres from floor to the roof for every kind of vehicle, they supply most of the UK through their port.
I have to order tyres from my dealer when due for new in Nottingham, but have at last convinced him that I buy enough tyres to justify him keeping a ready stock of 255/35/19 PS2's just in case.
@Daz, what did your side wall???

No idea - was just travelling along the motorway when the tyre pressure indicator beeped alerting a serious loss of pressure. Pulled over and there was the hole. The repair kit did fix it until Audi swapped it out. No one in Le Mans (except Audi AG) had a tyre and I would have had to have waited till today (delaying my return trip) for one to arrive.SteveH wrote: @Daz, what did your side wall???
