What urban MPG are you getting?
What urban MPG are you getting?
HI Guys
What MPG are you getting out your RS4's when running about town?
Mine seems to be drinking fuel and I don't have a lead foot cos i'm in traffic everyday back n forth to the office.

RE: What urban MPG are you getting?
I've done abot 5,500 miles in mine and the average is 21mpg. That is a mix of short hops in town and motorway.

I promised myself. Once i pick up my car. I will give up smoking. This i figure will balance the petrol money out.

RS4 (B7) Tech pack. SS+. Auto boot. Cool Box.

RE: Re: RE: What urban MPG are you getting?
On the same journeys in my RS4 B5 I used to get more - about 22.7mpg...

He just said, 21mpg.
Round town?? what do you mean round town? which town? makes a big difference.
The RS4 takes about 8 miles to get to full temp, until you reach this you will be using up to 40% more juice, also while you are accelerating no matter what speed you are doing the car will be consuming around 8mpg, while you are sitting still you are doing 0mpg.
Crusing at 50-80mph I bet it is doing something like 26-30mpg, however as soon as you get to a roundabout or have to brake and accelerate again it will be back to 8mpg for that time which will soon bring the average shooting down again.
I would expect around 12 mpg round a fairly large town, ie getting a few short runs of 1/2 a mile or so in.
I only get 21mpg from my 535d round town, so 12 from a 4.2V8 would be about right.

I'm after more than one persons urban figure here. I know the guy said 21mpg but that's including motorway driving.
How can you make comment when your driving a bimma 535d!!
so if anyone else is using there B7 to and from work in traffic would they be so kind and let me know what mpg they are getting.
I'm crawling round in mine and it is absolutely drinking the stuff
Thanks

When I took my B6 S4 to work which is about 6 miles away through london traffic I would see anything between 5mpg and 15mpg depending on how many jams I was in. Not tried the RS yet but I'll let you know when I do. But so far today with normal motorway traffic the RS is about the same as the S4.

I took the time to write out an explination to why you are only getting 11mpg, explaining how long the RS4 takes to warm up and how it consumes up to 40% more and how crawling around is just a killer on mpg.
I mentioned the 535d because in similar traffic I can only get 21mpg at best from a diesel, and sometimes it is mid teens.
What do you expect to get in London traffic??
You have a serious atitude problem and I am sorry I bothered to try and help answer you.

My B7 has covered 8,000 miles and has returned over the period 19.6 MPG. This includes a lot of motorway driving, but also some 'spirited' welsh mountain roads too, as well as the usual town centre jams. The ave speed over the period is 56mph
Perhaps if people put the Ave sppeed down as well, you might find some correllation?
Hope that helps
