GSM ON Dash..

Post by kam100 » Fri May 05, 2006 12:47 am

I have my car confirmed in at Build week 22 so we're expecting the cars ready for delivery 15th June.

Both me and my brother in law have plates on retention, so will be getting this ball rolling well in advance to make sure there are no further delays which could have been avoided.

Just one issue, which i can't find anything for.
This is my first Audi, after a string of Bmw's and a Range Rover Sport.
How does the phone actually hook up in the RS4? Bluetooth.. i understand you have to buy a compatible cradle, is there a phone list that they have with cradles available, if so better change my phone now.. I have a Sony E K750i.
(currently anyway) i didn't bother buying a cradle for the Land Rover, and just hooked it up via bluetooth and kept the phone in my pocket, can you do the same with the Audi system, or do you actually have to hook it up every time.. Also what happens with phonebook, does it upload to screen?

In dash is purely bluetooth I am told by dealer, the armrest version required cradle and loss of arm rest. I can only assume that the system works in a similar way to RR, where you upload your address book to the system and it shows a list plus the incoming caller ID

I have blue tooth in mine and personally I wouldn't order it again as you get a cradle mount attached to the dash which is ugly and gets in the way (it's huge) you then attach an adapter for your phone to that and it becomes a full car phone. but I just use the blue tooth and it works fine. It displays your phone book on the the TV and you acess your phone on the mmi. It works well but it's just ugly.

The problem is you are stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea as it you order the armrest one you get a normal A4 multi function steering wheel which looses the sport button!!!!!!

thanks for the info guys.. guess the SE K750i will work via bluetooth out of my pocket then... In the RRS the phonebook doesn't upload to the screen at all.. just purely a bluetooth connection to the in car speakers and mic system.. which didn't bother me, as its for incoming calls mostly and i always have my phone out so can see who it is... when i used to ring out, i did so from the phone, a bit naughty but worked well and served the purpose.. i.e. hands free once dialled.

Kam..... my RRS shows the incoming number on the radio display, and it copied 200 of 280 numbers into the memory of the radio from Sim card..... dont ask how.... it sort of did it on its own.......Was not aware of the cradle mount........ will see what can be done with that when it arrives.... see if I cant stretch the loom and fit it in the glove box :bigblink:
