ipod connection and tracker plus a few questions

Post by stenning » Thu Apr 27, 2006 2:26 pm

hi

Just a few questions if you can help

1. just wondered if anyone went for the ipod connection, is it any good as you have to give up your cd changer.

2. also, can anyone recommend an insurance company that doesnt make you have a tracker?

3. is the cool box worth it?

4. doesnt anyone have any pics of a car with the optics pack on?

5. silk nappa leather or valcona?

here is the spec i have chosen, any thoughts comments or additions really appreciated:

Phantom Black
Technology Pack
Valcona Leather Seats or silk nappa leather – any help appreciated
RS4 carbon fibre inlays
Heated seats
Auto dimming rear view mirror
Door mirrors auto dimming and folding
Double glazing to side windows
First aid kit
Rear side airbags
Front centre armrest
Automatically opening boot lid
Tracker monitor

cheers

1. I didn't spec a CD changer for this reason as I use my ice link. It works perfect. I had to put it on the right because of the phone prep and had to adjust the holder slightly and it's fine and not in the way at all when driving.

2. I would really recommend a Tracker for peace of mind and I have the monitor system.

3. I have the cool box and it's great for small cans but not for more than 1 500ml bottle. But would,nt be without it. It really work well as long as you remember to turn the dial in the back of it(like I didnt :? ) and make sure the air con is on.

4. personally I like the ally on the car but sorry I don't have any pics of the optics pack

5.valcona

Phantom Black ....nice colour, very subtle.

Technology Pack .......would like to have had it but couldn't warrant the 2k + as I only do about 5,000 miles a year and I have sat nav on my xda IIs

RS4 carbon fibre inlays .......LOOK GREAT

Heated seats ........I only have it on the front seats as there are child seats in the back

Auto dimming rear view mirror.........didn't bother with this as I drive mainly during the day

Door mirrors auto dimming and folding.......wouldn't use the folding as the rs4 mirrors do not fold.

Double glazing to side windows .....adds weight I guess. But so does pizza and beer

First aid kit ......didn't bother as the wifes always got Barbie plasters for the kids if needed. :D

Rear side airbags ......Didn't order as I have two very small children and I sonmetimes worry about when they go off and opted for recaro child seats with head side impact protection.

Front centre armrest....excellent if a little high and does get in the way of the hand brake a little.

Automatically opening boot lid...usefull but not as slick as I thought it would be. It's a little fierce, and closing is pretty hard to do.

Tracker monitor ....yup

Hope this helps and enjoy your new car when it comes

I don't need Satnav as I have a TomTom, but the person who will buy it off me will knock me down 2 or 3k when I come to sell it. So for me it's a must on a car like this.

Just put my order in too

Mugello Blue
Technology Pack
Valcona Leather Buckets
RS4 carbon fibre inlays
Heated seats
Auto dimming rear view mirror and coming home lights with rain sensors (should be standard on a car this price!!!!!)
Front centre armrest
Tracker monitor
2001 Avus Silver RS4 B5 60k on clock, MRC Custom Remap, Sunroof, Bluetooth prep

2006 Daytona Grey RS4 B7, RNS-E - SOLD

2006 BMW M6 - GONE

I have th eIpod kit in my RS4. It works really well, except for the fact you can only control the 1st alphabetically named playlists from the controls, CD Buttons 1-5, CD6 is for all of the songs.

The CD Changer doesnt work though.
