They were apparently having top end problems during development...not heard of any production ones having issues yet...

You would think they would have ironed the problems out before general release.

..just like BMW did with the M3? i believe the big end bearings collapsed after continued hard use?

Oh well we shall wait and see what gives (literally) with the new Audi lump. I would have thought learnings taken from the R8 Le Mans tamer would be sufficient to avoid such neg PR and brand embarrassment.

Audi must know what it is like to have problems with a top end release - they surely can't have forgotten the B5....

I imagine it's just part of the normal development process...push it to see how far it will go, and then step it down a level...

I wouldn't worry...you've got a warranty eh ;-)

The electronic limiter kicks in at approx 163mph.

See Speed Limiter post.

Djcevo - I :dung: you not my man. I'm talking about a MTM stg III B5 RS4 tho. Sorry for the confusion. Well run in and happy to back up the claim anytime you're in Scotland.

Audis are sublect to "soft" limiters. Limits set on paper to satisfy the powers that be in the automotive industry/governmental positions. They don't "hit a rev wall" like bimmers do...even prior to modding. Mine will get somehere into the 190 mark if given a long enough road now iirc.
