Pictures at Last - Mugello
Hi All,
Well, a few people wanted to see some pics of the new toy - not a professional photographer mind you, so they are a bit sketchy - but at least it's clean this morning.
Cheers, Mark

Ride - not driven it with the standard setup, so have nothing to compare directly against - first time I drove one was the day I collected it (last Friday). So, from a non-comparative view point, my take on the suspensions can be summed in one word - fantastic! OK, I will expand a little. Having owned a Noble, which basically didn't have body-roll, it is a much more supple ride - in comparison to the RS6 (chopped in for it), it's quite a bit stiffer. There is slight roll on hard cornering (roundabout only so far, as it's still running in), but the nose goes pretty much where you point it. Not a great deal of "crashing" going over potholes etc - in general it's extremely well sorted.
Have had 2 "moments" of amusement with both understeer and oversteer! Odd, I know. 1st time on a greasy roundabout, the back stepped slightly out - great fun, and I'm used to that from the Noble days - the ESP let it give a little, and then rained it back in. Can't wait for a few more miles under my belt to switch the ESP completely off, and see what it will really do. 2nd time was today - just back from a meeting in Derby. Exiting the roundabout to take the "A" road back to the M1, I joined the "A" in the outside lane, and opened it up a bit - no oversteer this time, just a very gentle understeer as I hit the apex of the turn - the road was bone dry, unlike the roundabout experience - maybe that's the "normal" driving stance for the car. Not a worry mind you.
Keeping it clean is another matter! First wash today since Friday's collection, and it really needed it. Became "caked" after a run from Leeds to the lakes on Saturday. Was almost like not having a new car!!!!! Been to Derby and back today (about 160miles round trip). It's getting a bit grimy again!
Now done 650miles, so with a bit of luck, this weekend will see me hit the heady heights of 6K rpm!!
All in all, I'm having great fun. Glad you like the photos.
Cheers, Mark

Best mate and co-directors B5 RS4. Nice motor, and what actually pursuaded me to look at Audi's in the first place. Did a run to Le Mans the year before last - me in the Noble, and him in the RS4. We swapped for part of the journey - I liked it so much that for last years trip I didn't even bother taking the Noble (was selling it at the time though).
Not wanting to get too heavily involved in the "debates" about which is better, but having driven the B5 quite a bit, I prefer the B7 experience so far - including the seats!!
Cheers, Mark
