Heated Seats

Hi all,

My first post here. I'm looking to buy an S3 and have just found a nice car with everything I want except heated seats.

Also the car will be a 210 BHP version. Are the 225s significantly different?
Does anyone know if they can be retrofitted and if so is it a big job?

Hi

An S3 is a very good choice. Him indoors - tjc - thinks his is great. He decided not to go for the heated seat option when he ordered his brand new 225 bhp S3 last year. We haven't regretted that decision yet. But then neither of us are stick insects - so I guess we're pretty well insulated.

Can't comment on differences between 210 and 225 - apart from he's already after more power. But I'm sure others will help with more info re differences. Anyway there's always chipping

Hello there...... ive had my S3 over a year now and its one cracking motor car!

Ive compared a 225bhp TT against a 210bhp S3 and couldnt tell any difference, if im correct though the differences are not that much, here are the figures:-

Audi S3 225bhp=
165kw/225bhp @ 5900rpm`s
280nm between 2200rpm - 5500rpm
0-62mph @ 6.6secs
top speed @ 151mph

Audi S3 210bhp=
154kw/210bhp @ 5800rpm`s
270nm between 2100rpm - 5000rpm
0-62mph @ 6.9secs
top speed @ 148mph

These are just manufacturer`s figures and trust me the pickup and top speed of the 210bhp S3 are really modist!

As for the heated seats i think that some seats may have the heating element`s built in and that the wiring looms are not installed (not proven) but going down the other route and having them installed by a Audi dealer may costs thousands! i only used my sometimes...... they are good but if i didnt have them, it wouldnt bother me too much really.

Hope this info helps and welcome to rs246.com

Thanks for your replies. I spoke to an audi dealer who says that the wiring loom is the same for all cars so it should be retrofittable. I would have to buy the control switches for the dash and the elements if they are not in the seats already. Will have to investigate further!

Mmmmmm, if your seat`s do not have the heating element though then the only option would be to have new seats put in which i`d say are around £1600 excluding heating and side airbag modules! That also excludes fitting.

The Audi Parts department said the elements were available separately so i think they could be fitted to the seats?

bollox

audi are tight and if during manufactue they can save a few pennies they will, this includes having 20 differnet wiring looms for each model

trust me i know as i had an RS4 wiring diagram, but it wasnt the same on my car, they try and save money on wiring lloms which also saves weight

good luck with this one

I've got heated seats in the S4 and I never use the heating element....waste of time IMHO
