took a trip to MRC TUNING on friday to have a health check and custom map.
first the car was checked for any fault codes, came up clear :)
a pressure test was done, again all good :)
went out for a run to get the standard power, which was 211bhp
then we went on a second run while the car was been mapped.
result was 260bhp and a HUGE GRIN!!!
massive differance in pulling power when the car comes on boost it feels like a totally diferent car.
100% recomended to anybody.
Cheers Doug

bp ultimate fuel. 97 RON
stage 1 is a generic map as far as i know. stage 2 is done custom to each car

Mine is a stage 1 APR then.

Once you get used to the extra power, try Tesco 99RON for a tank and let me know if you think its any better.

If your nearest one is a drive out the way, then maybe you could consider octane booster.

I can tell the difference going from Shell Optimax to Tesco 99, but this is only the arse dyno and may be influenced by me filling her up ;)

Dave,
Have put two tanks of Tesco Finest in and tbh i have not really noticed much, a wee quicker responce time with the throttle.

Not sure about power, but with the Tesco 99 I find it a lot more responsive.

I've always run mine on optimax/v power.
I've got the Stage 2 MRC map.

Revo might feel faster, but they always seem to have a tendancy to spike quite high, then tail off far too early. There was a 1.8t car on the roller when I was there that was Revo'd - I saw the before (revo) and after (MRC) plots - big difference in power delivery.

Oh, and 99 RON fuel does make a difference - you will need to run a couple of tanks though for the car to adapt properly.

Nige, from what i have heard it is very difficult to get good power read outs from the s3's due the Haldex system interfering. Not that i am fighting any corners as i have a revo on mine and like the chaps at mrc. lol.

I think what Nige is referring to is the actual shape of the power/torque curves as those would have been comparable on the same dyno, rather than the headline figures.
