Cooling fan fault..constantly on intermittantly..please help

please can some 1 tell me why my cooling fan is constantly on (even when cold) from the minute i turn the key. it comes on then off then on etc.... constantly.. like theres a sensor gone. cheers guys....

scott , i've had this fault on a golf . I would try first the fan control unit first . It's on the n/s chassis leg .

Straying a little - Grizz if you are still fault finding this and the Golf is a MK4, it's a known fault I believe. Fan faults quite well documented on www.uk-mkivs.net

'It's on the n/s chassis leg ' what should i actually do with it??? check if its worn or needs replacing?? cheers. scott

you can actually hear something clicking on and off somewhere down in the depths of the N/S chassis leg that corrisponds to the fans pulsing on and off so it sounds a fair diagnosis
