Hi,

just thought id introduce my self, my name is Ollie and im soon to be a proud ( i hope ) s3 owner. I have secured a deal with my dad on his 2001 y reg silver model with full audi history as he is upgrading soon for a new TT.

He has had the car from new and ive really liked it the whole time, it has been quite reliable, and im hoping it will be for me. This will be the first Audi i have owned, although ive been a big fan, ive recently had jap motors. All i have to do now is sell my current car, which is going on the trader and piston heads tonight.

How reliable are the s3's when chipped? i had a friend with a chipped seat ibiza 1.8t and that seemed slightly problematic after wards...

Also are the replica rs4 wheels any good or should i hold tight and hope some genuine ones arise second hand?

cheers

Oliver

Welcome

Firstly, a TT is not an upgrade ;) ha ha

Chipped S3's, if looked after like any car, are no more trouble than standard.

Cheers,

Dave

personally ive advised him to go for a newer s3, but he really wants a more "coupe sleek" less pracatle car, maybee he is having a mid life crisis?

I was wondering if the s3 brakes , suspension etc.. were up for the 260 bhp some of these chips are offering? or do you then have to upgrade everything else too to get the most from the extra power?

Has this affected your premium by much?

Welcome!!

New to this site as well, having just got a 2002 S3 6 weeks ago. Within 3 days I had it chipped and have to say the difference is amazing over standard. Well worth the money.

Other upgrades are of course sensible, for now I'm just trying to keep the rest as standard apart from some decent fast road pads (for now anyway)!!!

I have my car chipped, a filter and nothing else. It is perfect for what i use it for, eg no tracks!

See my thread in this section about insurance, it cost me £20 extra for having it chipped with Greenlight!
