Shot my S3 today!

Post by Mori » Wed Apr 04, 2007 2:20 am

Having my camera with me, I took a few pics after her morning car wash while waiting around for a friend to get out of work.

Still love this car despite the RS4 being near perfect and so much better. The classical Audi styling (B5 model as well) was the best there was.

PS. Yes - that is a 1.6 badge on the rear. ;)

That looks sweet

Is it standard? (except the rims and badge)

It has H&R Coilovers, its remapped to a lot of boost ;) and its got a Forge DV, so the mods are rather light.

How do you find coilovers? What are the roads like where you live? My suspension is getting a little tired at 66k miles, and wondered if it was time to upgrade :?

Well they're great because I lowered the car exactly what I wanted (well actually - I wanted a bit more but every day semi-practicality won). Besides the stock ride is much too soft. The H&Rs are pleasantly soft in the first few cms of travel, then they harden up so you don't bottom out. And of course amazing in the twisties. I was planning to change the rear stabilizer for the one from the Golf V6 or R32 (1cm and 5cm thicker respectively) to make it understeer less, but I didn't have time at first, and didn't bother later. Go for it! I believe the Bilstein PSS9 are better rated by people, but also about twice as expensive. KW is a good choice I hear too, but the stiffness setting breaks on uneven roads.

The roads over here suck, but I just take it easy and try to avoid potholes.

They are OZ Superleggera III's in 8x18". You can also get them in 10x18" now for the rear axle. And in black. Or 19".
