My 52-reg S3 (225 model) is going to be due a service in the next 3500 miles according to the onboard computer. This will be the cars 4th service and I believe the car is on the 'long-life' service interval???
I've had two main dealer quotes for doing the service, one quoting £550 and the other £392 all in incl vat.
The car has done 40k miles now and I've been told that the service will be the first 'main' service the car has had.
Can any of you let me know whats involved in this 'main' service apart from the usual oil/filter change, and what sort of monies I should be paying.

thats a rip off! is you car still under warrenty? I have a mate works for VW for service £150. but will not stamp you book....
so that looks like £400 for a rubber stamp
as for service oil, filter, pollen filter, may be plugs (but they charge £100 just for them) and then checks! what ever they are

o sorry almost forgot wind screen wash

My 40k service included Haldex oil and brake fluid. I'd replace the plugs yourself with Denso Iridium jobbies, think its
www.spark-plugs.co.uk for a good price. I think its IK20 part number.... but someone else can confirm this!

I was told that the service would include all oils and fluid changes and that this would be the cars first major service. How can two main dealers charge such different prices for the same service?? Is is down to labour rates alone.......one dealer was in Berkshire (where I live) and the other in Cheshire (where I work).
Was just interested in knowing the sort of figures others had paid for a similar service on a similat aged/mileage car.
Is it worth keeping the dealer history on a car thats now outta warranty? Or just find a good local indy to undertake the work?

I paid £450 for my 40k service.
Whats this about not keeping an Audi service history because of the warranty ?
How about resale price?
If I had the choice between two similar S3's, one with kurb side Ken's servicing and one with Audi, I know which one I would pick ......

When the car is serviced and the computer re-calculates the next service interval, I think you'll find it'll go upto about 18k.
Seems to be getting through the servicing pretty quick, but this is all dependant on the way it is driven, maintained etc.
40,000 + 3,500 = 43,500, divided by 3 = 14,500 miles per service
Mine seems to last longer than that ..... but most people seem to change the oil every 5k anyway ...
