I've just bought a 225bhp S3 and this dash light has just appaered. Car appears to be driving fine with no loss in power or strange noises. It stays on constantly. Can anyone help, I can't find any reference to it anywhere.

Thanks

Don't suppose you pressed resume on the cruise control, but in a different gear to when you set it?

Don't think I even have cruise control!! I guess I will have to go to Audi and get it check out. Wonder they charge to run a diagnostic onit?

Where abouts are you? Maybe some from the site can plug there laptop in for you.

Cruise is on the left hand indicator stalk, was an option from Audi.

Got any pics/spec/colour etc.

I'd ring a few dealers first, prices can vary.

Main dealers charge about 60UKP though it varies. I have VAG COM and happy to do it FOC, I'm near J3 M42.
Just had it on my 2001 210 S3, it was a fault relating to Oxygen (Lambda) sensor heating and would come on after a few mins of driving. I'm pretty sure it was relating to my lazy thermostat not allowing engine to warm up.
Does your coolant gauge get to 90 degrees (vertical) and stay there or does it move around once engine warmed up?
Could be something else like an air leak or a misfire caused by a dreaded coil pack.
Is it under warranty?

Mate with Vagcom checked it and it threw up this code :

17748 - Camshaft Position Sensor (G40) / Engine Speed Sensor (G28): Incor. Correlation
P1340 - 35-00

The cam belt was changed just before I bought it but by a VAG specialist, not Audi themselves. Is it likely to be just out a tooth? Just a matter of getting the timing redone?

Sounds likely as belt was just changed.
There could be a fault with either sensor which could cause this but always check what has recently been disturbed first i.e. the belt!
