Service costs

My s3 is now due its variable service at 60K. Glasgow audi at braehead have quoted me £315 for the service plus £99 for brake fluid change and £69 for haldex oil change which are both due making total £483. They said they could give me a discount to bring it down to £405 which to be honest is more than i expected anyway. The car has full service history so reluctant to let that go. Anyone had any experience of Glasgow audi or know if this price is about right or not? thanks........

Price sounds about right. I had a 40k service and that was over £400.

60K service is cambelt time on an S3. If that price includes the cambelt then brilliant but I don't think it does and this needs doing more than any of the other jobs.

Have looked into this and people seem to get the water pump and tensioners done at the same time as the cam belt. Is this recomended? Audi have quoted £395 just for the cam belt so to include water pump etc it will probably be close to a £1000 Any views on getting this done independantly at local garage or specialist?

Water pump and tensioners add only about £60 to the cost and might as well be done now and left for another 60K. They are easily accessible at the time so your labour costs are much reduced. As to where up to go. Plenty of thoughts on here about specialists vs. Dealer. Where are you based? Do you have a warranty? I'm sure you'll get plenty of recommendations for people's personal favourites

Im based in Glasgow and not sure where any specialist garages are but im going to look into it and see what kind of quotes i can get then decide between the two. I think its probably worthwhile getting it done now to avoid even bigger costs down the line if anything major go's wrong.

Star Performance are a well respected specialist in your region- Kirkaldy I think, so a little way east from Glasgow but they'll probably undercut Glasgow Audi by 50% which will more than payback the petrol. Tend to use well regarded specialists myself unless there might be a warranty issue or prices are comparable. All the best

were your spark plugs replaced at 40k,if so did it come up on your receipt of your service

Doesnt say anthing about them being replaced on the service book history but audi say they will change them if needed as part of the service. Should i insist on changing them anyway?
