Costs when your engine goes bang...

As most of you will know I melted a piston on my 2000 S3 2 months ago. A lot of people are interested in the cost to fix.
Jabbasport have had the car 3-4wks while looking into parts for it. Because the cylinder wall was scratched a re-bore would be necessary. Mahle usually supply the oversized pistons but they no longer do. Audi don't make an oversized piston suitable for the APY engine.
Jabba then spoke to Audi in Germany about a replacement short engine. Audi would like around £3600 for this. Obviously then you would have to include shipping and fitment costs on top of that.
With the options running out for a cost effective solution and me being too fussy to accept a 2nd hand lump (if one could be tracked down). Jabba have come up with the idea of doing their 1900cc conversion to the engine as what is carried out when going for big turbo conversion. This includes conrods the lot and will be run on a Jabba ECU.
This will take 3wks to complete and I'm looking at 280+bhp with 310-320lbft of torque. All for around 4k so I'm quite pleased because I can write a lot of the cost off on the modding as opposed to paying 5k+ to put back as normal
It was 3wks from Monday just gone so I will let everyone know how it progresses and I'm planning to be there for the rolling road set up.
