S3 using oil

i have an 51 plate S3 and i have had it for 6months now, its using some oil at he mo, 1L in that time, does anyone know if this is normal as turbo cars use oil, but should it use this much????


any suggestions???

Hi mate - take a look in your manual, I believe Audi say something like 1000 miles per litre is acceptable. Some dont use much, some do - yours doesnt sound like much to worry about

didn't someone else on here complain of high oil consumption right before it ate a piston?. best do a search of the s3 forum to check

Yes they did, but that was a litre every 600 miles

mintie my s3 used a litre of oil every 1000 miles, then it did eat a piston, still waiting to fix

I would say get a healthcheck done on the engine if possible.

It may have been like that forever, literally but its worth checking that its not running lean or has other common problems associated with pipework, Dv's etc.

I had a "2000" S3 for three and a bit years and i think i topped the oil up once if that.... Seems it differs from car to car?
