Need some help...

...from the clever guys out there.
Suddenly, when the engine being pushed and the turbo's spinning, the noise from the engine is much louder than it was, almost as if I've holed the exhaust (which I haven't). Also, since this has started, the engine sounds quite rattly/tappy on tickover.
Any ideas anyone?
