Interesting revo/amd day

Post by Ryan_s3 » Sat May 29, 2004 6:38 pm

Just come back from my rr day at amd, again interesting results from my s3,this time it made 267.7bhp@5839 and 263lb/t@5185.Pretty amazing results as the car is only running 1 bar on the rollers and 1.1 on the road.
My previous results from my day at owen development made 243.8bhp@5483 and 243.3lb/t@3362.Amd seemed certain it had been chipped but not sure by who or even audi themselves.I still have to fit my front mounted ic so hope to gain a few more hp when that goes on.regards Ryan

If your car is making nearly 270 bhp (albeit on an optimistic RR) I would say its defenitely chipped!

hi dunc,
absolutly in no doubt that it's been chipped/tweaked but is a bit of mystery to me how it's making that power on 1 bar boost and who has done the chip/tweak.AMD don't thinks it's them, chipped cars run 1.3-1.5+ bar. It's not revo either, one day i'll pull the ecu but at the moment i'm happy with the results and i'm not stretching the turbo too much. For example i think ben was running 1.4 bar when he made similar results at amd.ryan

Ryan, I bet your car has been tweaked by ABT - they were certainly associated with Audi around the S3's introduction, and their remaps focus on refueling optimisation, and they are less boost oriented than the others.

Nice results Ryan :D
Your power output is pretty darn good (especially as you're running at 1 bar), it's nearly 10BHP up on what mine was and the conditions in January when I was on the rollers were excellent

Perhaps Sita's right, could easily be Abt. Would make me chuckle if Audi had one of their press cars tweaked - what 0-60 times did your car figure in it's tests?

All the best mate,

Ben

Hi ben,
Interesting results arn't they ben, still not totally sure who has tweaked the car,abt only list the amk and bam engines on the website and mines a apy.All the other tuners chips run 1.3-1.5 bar.Not many people have the abt chip ,so i can't really ask anyone.Ben ,do you think it's still worth a revo re-map,it's producing similar results on 1 bar.I really need to get vag-com and see what is being requested, can anyone help me out?I think the car ran a 6.3 0-60 but don't quote me on that.regards Ryan

Sod paying for a remap if it's already been fettled with. Personally, I'd go out in at least one other persons chipped S3 to see what the difference is. I know rollers give figures but they don't tell the whole story.
VAG COM and data logging will be a good start otherwise - but you've already done that haven't you?
Abt are bound to have done code for that car as it was out in Germany with that engine code also.

Get your ass to a meet and compare

hi ben,
well it doesn't feel mega quick but i'm a bit numb to power since my last car,i've been in a mates new 911 and it didn't exactly thrill me.It not running massive boost so the torque is still fairly mundane.I think i'll get to the bottom of who did the re-map,i'm going to get round to fitting the fmic and do a oil change in the next week or so.I'll pull the ecu then and have a look.I wouldn't mind uping the boost a tad but i've been told it very tricky due to the s3's load boost controller.regards Ryan

not alot to report ben,just been too busy to do anything,have concluded there are 3 methods of further improvement;
1)get re-mapped again with 1.2-1.3 bar-probably 20-30hp extra and torque
2)get a larger turbine housing/injectors/remap probably 50hp extra and torque
3)get jabbasport turbo kit and remap probably 100hp extra and torque.
I'll let you know when i get things together!!regards Ryan
