insane tuning??
insane tuning??
Hi,
Please correct me if i'm wrong but surely these tuners, amd, apr, ottengier, jabba and revo don't just rolling road the car ,fit the chip and rolling road it again??This isn't even tuning!!You can't tune/map a car unless your are altering fueling, timing (load points) at the same time as rolling road.As we all know cars come from the factory running leaner/richer and are completely different .I'm going to give a few of these places a ring, seems v.bad.puzzled Ryan

Re: insane tuning??
welcome to the world of vag tuning. Most chips dont offer a RR either. REVO allows you to alter timing but you need a laptop and vagcom to get the best from this.

Re: insane tuning??
Do you think that each car off a production line is individually tuned?
To get 90odd percent of the maximum achievable result is quite easy.

Re: insane tuning??
As Dunc said, that's the way it is. I believe there's a well respected chap that maps S2's on the fly called Minhea. I wonder if he does S3's?

Re: insane tuning??
Most cars massively overfuel to protect the engine from detonation, they use it as a form of cooling. This is why the car can be run fairly roughly. They use a basic map of afm volts vs revs and boost(manifold pressure) to determine the amount of fuel to inject(of course air temp etc). When they "chip" a car they alter the levels of fueling/timing due the above factors but they will be safeguarded(richer) because it's not a individual map.I mean say for instance you have a induction kit ,uprated ic and exhaust. This will not be the same map as a car with a standard setup. For example a friend of mine had a car with ,uprated ic,exhaust filter, water injection, closed loop boost control, with the standard ecu made 275bhp.When it was properly mapped with a unichip it made 325bhp.Not a rough guessed map, accurate.Interesting info though, regards Ryan

Re: insane tuning??
I could get my s3 mapped on the rollers by one of the best easily,i'd be happy to give anyone details if they want them.I honestly thought thats want the revo was,but was using flash memory the standard ecu instead of a piggyback.I will give my tuner a call to see whats this is all about.regards Ryan

Hello Ryan,
Who is the tuner you speak of?

Go to teh S3 forum, the guys have developed a downpipe for the S3 K04 turbo to the cat that gives 20kw at the wheels gain..
The cat back improves this further..
103kw @ the wheels standard dyno, with exhaust that went to 137kw @ the wheels..
Very expensive, but worth checking out..
