According to a guy on tyresmoke.net, the new S3 will be realsed early 2005 and have 280bhp V6.

Seems a bit too much for me!

My only issue is that it's a bit of a big heavy engine hanging way out the front of an A3 bodyshell. And no doubt everyone will soon start whinging about the lack of turbos! Or did you just not mention turbos?

Sam, the new A3 is quite a bit heavier than the old one (200 kgs I think), and the 3.2 is no problem for the R32 (which handles rather well), so I dont think it should be much if an issue.

I think 280 bhp seems about right when you compare it to the old 225 bhp, thats quite an increase, but i dont think it will be the car for me...

if there is more weight up front due to the heavier engine then Audi will probably fit a thicker front anti-roll bar. This is what VW did with the R32 (up from 22mm in the v6 4motion to 24mm on the R32 IIRC)

yep they do - VW balanced this out by putting a thicker ARB on the rear (19mm IIRC)
