S3 Tyres/winter wheels

Boggo S3 Avus 17" rims. What's the best all-round tyre (225/45 i think) to get and what should I be looking to pay?
Is there anywhere cheaper than Micheldever?
Plus what do you guys do about winter tyres??? I need a set for the winter as I will be up in Switzerland a couple of times on packed snow and I don't really fancy constantly swapping tyres about or buyig 17" winter tyres...
Do Audi make appropriate steelies?
