TT to S3

Post by Robert » Wed Oct 22, 2003 3:19 pm

Been toying with the idea for a few months now. My dealer has a black S3 with black leather and blue inserts in them, looks the biss IMO, The only thing it doesn't have that i would of chosen is Bose and a cd multi changer its just got the single cd headunit. My TT has been moded with Revo, bigger brakes, DV, forge exhaust, short shifter and samco hoses. I'm presumming brakes, short shifter, hoses and dv would be a straight swap? I also have an Alpine N0333R sat Nav head unit which i would also like to fit in the S3 but not sure it would look ok or even fit, anyone here got this unit fitted into an S3? the price on the car is 22,500K and has 11k on the clock Dec 2002 is the price about right for the car?
Would i regret moving down/sideways to a S3? Obviously i would be going down the remap route wither it be AMD/Revo or APR

Cheers in advance

Hi,

Parts should be a straight swap, not sure on the short shifter, but I'm sure someone else will know.
The price seems quite high for a car with a very basic spec. The dealers are under some impression that the last of the S3's are worth a premium over earlier models so I'd check out the independents like Fontain. They have a black '02 car with 11k on it for £19,995.

Best of luck,

Ben

S3 and TT are two different cars... S3 has more toys

it's a big job fitting alpine sat nav to an s3 due to the lack of space behind the dash for the extra boxs. Had it on my old one and the cheapest labour only job I could find was £450.

Hi,

The Turbo Centre (www.turbocentre.co.uk) has a black 2001 S3 with 10K miles, with CD changer, BOSE and sunroof for £18995. Grey leather though!

Have a look at some of the install pics HERE ive done of a Pioneer Sat Nav system in my S3 and it should give u an idea. I dont see any reason why the Alpine system cant fit. Should be pretty straight forward.

I hope mods dont mind me putting a linky from another site

I agree £22.5 is way too much for a '02 car with low spec. You could get an 02 car with sat nav for that and have change left over (private sale)

Regarding regretting the move, who knows? Depends on you I guess. Personally the TT doesn't really do it for me, but saying that it is a lovely car.

One perceived benefit of the S3 over the TT is that there does not appear to be as many around

Sounds similar to fitting it in the TT took me and a mate most of a day to install 4hrs was trying to get all the cableing and adapter into the small area behind it.:(
