cruise control broken - useless dealers...

my cruise was broken - i took it to the main dealer in Preston, and after a long wait they said it was working fine! - i insisted they take me out and show me and surprise! it wasnt working at all...
they then decided without doing any diagnostics that it was the stalk that needed replacing. I asked what they would do if replacing the stalk switch didnt fix the problem- they got sarcastic and suggested they could spend several hours exploring the wiring at my expense before they replaced the switch. At this point i walked out.
i went to an independent who ran vag-com diagnostics and who found that the brake light switch had thrown a code, but the brake lights were working. i then went to audi spares and paid £6.50 for a new brake switch, and spent 20 minutes swapping it - now the cruise works perfectly.
the moral is - dont trust the dealers and if your cruise brakes, then look at the clutch and brake switches!
