Re: S3 Fuel Consumption?
ummm I get more than Graham -- about 400 from most tanks !!!! My usual journeys are undertaken at a fairly sedentary pace, along with others , on a winding road with loads comming the other way -- but I do know what the right hand pedal is for

Re: S3 Fuel Consumption?
Usually around 250 miles per tank.
Bit of a heavy right foot and the 30 mile round trip for work is all on straightish "A" roads and at all different times of the day due to shift work. And no speed cameras around for miles

Re: S3 Fuel Consumption?
Currently looking at this on mine. I've done approx 150 miles on half a tank of very "economical" town driving so in theory I can expect 150 more if the guage is anything to go by. The DIS says 24.? which will equate to just under 350 miles if you do the sums.
The last time I roughly checked, the DIS was 2 MPG optimistic so it's all a bit confusing
From what I can work out you should get low 20's in traffic and high 20's on the open road if driven quite sensibly. When I footed it the other day I saw 5.1 MPG on the instant read out so that just goes to show what is possible
BTW I'm running high boost 5 on the Revo SPS
Hope that makes some sense

Me 250-280 miles, She 280-320.
DIS currently reading 31 average.
When I used it every day it was around 28.
Never verified as it so much better than most of the cars that preceded.....
Mine is 2000 model, no mods. Done 45k miles now. Enjoy your weekend !

Re: S3 Fuel Consumption?
Recent trip to north Norfolk averaged 57mph and 37.6 mpg all on the DIS - don't know what the 'real' figure is - I used to keep meticulous records between 1976 ish and 1997/8 ish always carefully filled up , same petrol pump etc etc.but just cannot be bothered now . The DIS may not be accurate but at least you get some ( inaccurate)consistency.
The norfolk trip in the A3 T Sport used to get around 43/44mpg with an average speed of high 40 low 50 mph.
They are nearly always early morning trips so the roads are fairly quiet. Still if we were really interested in mpg we would have bought TDis wouldn't we

Re: S3 Fuel Consumption?
average 22mpg approx 330miles per tank doing short runs to work and back <5miles
highest attained 38mpg at approx 70mph
average motorway 30-34mpg doing 70-80mph
lowest motorway 6mpg at approx 152mph
eco driving on motorway can equal 450miles per tank

On £30 of Optimax I did 200 miles.
At 82p per litre, its about 37 litres. If theres about 4.5 litres in a gallon, thats 8 gallon, which is about 25 mpg.
Dash said 29 mpg, not sure what happened there !!!
That was mainly in traffic on the way to work on 210 bhp, then when roads empty(ier?!?) on Optimax 265 bhp, which wasn't much of journey.
Has anybody else noticed an increase in engine responsiveness when the tank gets below 1/4 full?

Re: S3 Fuel Consumption?
could be due to weight? less fuel in tank.Has anybody else noticed an increase in engine responsiveness when the tank gets below 1/4 full?
Or do you fill up when the tank is not empty so there may always be the concentrated particles at the bottom, highly unlikely as optimax is supposed to be good with particles etc.
