After 2 years of ownership of my first german, Audi and S3 car i am 95% happy with the car and 80% happy with the dealership`s service.
I first saw the S3 at a Motorshow and didnt even considered what it was and if i could own one..... at this time i wasnt too much into cars let alone S3`s.
I owned a 206 GT (bought at 19) for two years before the rattling got worse.... its had a few problems, i got bored of it and wanted to upgrade to a car with more power... looked at so many options but my age and driving period was against me..... and i had no insurance history.
I looked at many different models and even considered a custom built brabus smart priced at 15k > lol..... good job i came to my senses!
Eventually i came across sport-3 forums and decided to import a S3 via sport import.
At the times i was only 21 and was just getting all my plans ready and preying for insurance cover etc..... i turned 22 in August 2001 and at the time found a forum member who was in a rush to sell his car during a low period in the 2nd market..... he was going to sell to a dealership at the time...... i saw some pictures of the car and instantly fell in love with the combination of alloys and paint option. My Homepage I went down on the 25th of Dec 2001 to pick the car up wicked.
Im now 23 and it has been nearly 2 years since i bought my S3,i have had a few problems with my S3 regarding reliability issues but i felt that these were very small in relation to what type of car the S3 is.
The dealership have been ok but their pricing could be alittle more competitive sometimes
Ive covered 17,200miles and its running nicely...... there are still days when i sit in the drivers seat and glance at the S3 badge in the steeringwheel and think how did i manage owning and running a S3.
It hasnt been easy as im not really a high earner money-wise but its been well worth every penny.
The S3 feels surefooted at any speed, good a-b car, safe, good quality... the list is endless with very few niggles.
I definatley hope my next car will also be a Audi which far exceeds the rarity of the S3..... maybe RS3/4.
Many people say that Audi`s handle bad or there`s no feed back etc but personally i feel that on a day to day basis its up there! feed back is just a right balance between comfort and ride........ ive not driven a S3 with 17" alloys on but the 18" RSTT alloys with Michelin tyres are ace...... 5mm thread all round left on all tyres...... ok in the wet and good grip in the dry......
Ive had some fun in my S3........ ..... powersliding around a round-a-bout whilest drifing sidewards about 2 metres....
Im the type of driver who takes it easy around corners but guns it in straight lines.....
For me the best thing about the S3 is the way it makes my face look everytime i drive it.........
All prospect buyers....... go buy it.... trust me you wont regret it!
