Max settings for SPS3?

Post by Riz_RS4 » Wed Jul 23, 2003 7:17 pm

Just want to compare with other tuners.
I have a Revo leaflet stating the following:-

265bhp / 287lb ft (Typical Performance Figures - Not Maximum BHP Figures)

So what is the max bhp and torque?
What settings does the Revo 5hr trial use?
What do you think the 0-62mph times are and the top speed?

Cheers ppl

I guess performance is dependant on the car and weather conditions + the accuracy/air flow dynamics of the rolling road measuring the power.

have a search on this forum for our rolling road figures and comments regarding the revo tune.

Ok.....

What are the ignition timings for? ive heard people use highboost 9 with timing 9, isnt this wrong? they say its a big improvement over timing 6?
I thought that timing 6 was the best for optimax and millers?

Riz, it is best you speak with Revo direct regarding technical matters such as this as you'll get a more detailed/qualified answer than what I could possibly post!

I've been doing some reflecting lately and I was beginning to join the ranks of the unqualified hobbyist motor technician for which, you will find, there are plenty around, offering potentially misleading advise.

You would probably find using high boost 9 timing 9 that the ECU would pull back as the settings are too high for optimal use. You would really need some sh*t hot fuel to run at timing 9. High boost 9, you'd need perfect conditions, in most circumstances you'd suffer from heatsoak and the ECU would pull itself back. You're better off using say High Boost 3-5 and Timing 6-7 if you have decent conditions and optimax + millers!

REVOKEV, so if i dialled in high boost 9 with timing 6 and ran on optimax are u saying my ecu would pull it back to a safer setting ?? or would i be ok?
Do i run the risk of damaging my engine if i run it long term ??
Thanks

You are requesting a specified amount of boost when altering the boost setting, this will only be achieved if all of the engine sensors are working within their set tolerance levels. The the ECU will 'pull back' if the fuel and atmospheric conditions are not perfect for the requested settings, thus leading to less performance and unsmooth acceleration.
It is not a case of the higher the setting being better, it needs to be a suitable settings for the conditions.
You won't harm the car in doing this as it will 'adapt' down from these settings, however it won't run very well at all.

'9 & 9' is rather amusing though

Whats toluene? Do you use vag-com to check ignition knock-backs etc?
So is lowboost 1.0bar and highboost 1.6bar?

Paint thinners. Costs me £1 a litre. Loads of info on the internet on it.
Low boost on my glofs 1.2 bar verses 1.4 bar for high boost.
Checked timing on vag com and need 20% mix for no <beep> on timing 9, but 10% for 3-6kw <beep>, which is OK so I'm told.

Forgot to say it's 114 ron, and they used to run the 1.5 litre turbo f1 cars on it in the 80's.
Get it from a local paint supplier. The reciept has 'duty free. not to be used as a fuel or fuel extender'

Oops!

114RON, feck thats alot........ what engine are you running?
Do you use millers too? that would give you 2-3 RON too.
